Came across this article about London which I thought was a good read. Will likely resonate more for those who have lived in London, but I'm sure those who have visited and read about the place will still be able to appreciate the content. Rod Liddle isn't particularly likeable but I am a big fan of his writing style. I digress, dear reader!

Fantastic City, one of the World's best, I'd hate to live there though.

It's not even in the top 10 of cities I've visited, but I still like it. Any massive city will have a multitude of problems. Anyone who's played Sim City knows that.

Pretty much my opinion. Im usually down for work jollies which is great fun but unless I was very very rich I wouldnt consider moving there. I do love visiting though.

It's a fantastic city. Been here 7 years and love it. Don't understand people that feel otherwise. The 10 million people live here the majority would probally say the same

Been a few times, was there in August and I'm going again in October for NFL. Fantastic city to visit so much to see and do but * living there permanently, far too crowded for me queues just to get food and things like that are * massive as well:giggle1:. You'd just get used to it I suppose.

I don't mind diving in, doing some stuff and then escaping back to the country.

Loads of things to see and do, lots of culture and very lively. A bit like most cities actually (including Glasgow).

Worked down in London for about 5 years. It's a shithole.
Worked half of that time at night. It's a dark shithole.

I think this is very true. Obscene wealth can be right round the corner from destitution.

Opinion on London is split like no other city in the UK imo. Personally I love visiting, it's a hugely historical city with a lot to see and do, some excellent restaurants and pubs too. Living there though? Probably the major city I would like to live in the least. Huge divide between rich and poor and ridiculous property prices to live in a cramped apartment in a part of town that is 'only and hour away from central London'.

If you're very rich I'm sure owning a flat in Chelsea/Kensington and basically being a socialite is pretty cool, but for the average person working full time and earning a mediocre salary I can't imagine why someone would choose to live there.

stayed there for six weeks on Portobello road, was a nice little part of london down there,i was paying a grand to live in a room above a pub with a mattress on the floor, was supposed to find work but ended up on the bevvy, hence why I lasted only six weeks.i loved taking a stroll through hyde park and sparking a can, done it outside Buckingham palace gates once and ended up with a fine, some parts u can drink in the street some u cant.not been back in years but I did like it down there, but the rent and prices were a joke just wasn't sustainable for someone like me.

still rate Glasgow a better city though in a lot of aspects small compact, cheaper cost of living than most parts of uk,people are more down to earth and genuine, celtic, the gateway to the highlands(most stunning part of the uk)hate glasgow for years but now starting to enjoy my city for a change.
