Mind an episode and they were on about Phil's diet, said he drank about 20 cans of Red Bull a day, smoked 40 cigarettes and ate chocolate all day. He's dead now though, dunno how he died.

 

Update,believe its back on at the end of this month

I don't know about over in the UK, but the first episode of the new season is on tonight here. Maybe that will give an idea on when it starts up over there for you.

New series just started on discovery tonight

It's the 3rd episode of the new season that's on atm mate.

New series tonight,2 hour special.

 

Like watching the show but pretty sceptical about how genuine it all is. There's bits where they're giving full interviews with the camera during supposed emergencies, when they're apparently ready to run aground etc. Canny see that happening.

 

A lot will be staged, American TV has a history of overdoing it's reality shows. Take Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares where the original UK version was real but the American version was acted and overblown so much it resembled more of a TV drama than a reality show.

 

I've seen enough clips of that Gordon Ramsey show to know it's staged, so I've never really watched it lol

I started watching DC when it first came out and didn't notice it being as bad but with these up to date ones it seems to be more so. There was a 'fight' in the episode I've been watching tonight, not sure what either of them were trying to achieve, were just rolling about.

 

I think it's just a thing with the American TV companies, the throw a * load of cash at these reality shows but want them to be drama as well to suit the viewers over there. I remember Trawlermen, the Scottish version of DC and there was * all drama in it, just a good factual show about the lives of Scottish fishermen in the North Sea.

 

In fairness they do a lot of the interview stuff in post-production and edit it in. Though of course it wouldn't be such a ratings hit if they didn't ham stuff up a bit to heighten the tension/drama.

Quite like the specials they used to do at the end of seasons where they were all sat about a table talking about various stuff and showing highlights.
