It's always difficult to drop a player who is playing well, unless it is for a better player, then it becomes easier.

Forrest deserves praise for his recent form, but a fully fit Roberts is a better player, and should start ahead of him if it comes down to one or the other.

When both players are playing at their best then yes it is pretty obvious that Patrick Roberts is the better player of the two. Hammer is right though, so far this season James Forrest has been in better form than Roberts so it's only fair that Forrest has been in the team.

The one thing I like about Forrest over Roberts - and I can't believe I am typing these words - is that Forrest is more of a team player and works harder off the ball than Roberts does. On Champions League nights where we often don't have possession of the ball then I can totally see a case for playing the guy who presses the ball more and who is less likely to give away possession of the ball. That guy is Forrest.

Roberts turn will be coming though, I'm pretty sure of that.

I think for the first time since injury, Roberts gave Rodgers a selection headache last night..

I reckon he may start this one, and I wouldn't be against it. Showed flashes of his self and he'd murder Wallace with skill and trickery like that..

Shooders off the bench is not a bad problem to have..

I wouldn't be surprised to see Simunovic come in at centre back, and i wouldn't be surprised at all if Bitton and Shooders started on the bench..

Possibly 3 realistic changes in the offing..

Forrest played well last night, always took on his man and whipped a couple of cracking crosses. Roberts has more ability but he hasn't got the experience at CL level and isn't as good as Forrest tracking back which is very important in Europe. It's a hard one, but always said the form players should play and just now that's Forrest.

I would start Roberts over wee Jamesy Forresty next Sunday. I know it seems harsh on Forrest after the way he's played this season but Roberts looks really sharp at the moment. Brendan seems the loyal type(not the Loyal type :giggle1:) so I'm almost certain he'll stick with Forrest but in this instance I would go with Roberts. In the form he's in just now he could be a matchwinner.

Forrest will start. I'm pretty certain of it.

Even though I prefer Roberts as a player.

Forrest can get through a power of work in a game and helps Lustig out when he plays RB..

Roberts and Gamboa provide much more of a threat down the right.

Forrest will start , he was sensational against the sheep at Hampden. That wide pitch suits him and he has a suspect teenager to run at so he should do well.

I prefer Roberts and I am sure he will come on to good effect.

Roberts really added something when he came on today. For me Forrest is not the man to have out there when you're up against a side that just puts 11 men behind the ball.

I would be happy with either starting.

Maybe start with Roberts and let his trickery unlock the defence then bring Forrest on for the last 30 to terrorise their tired * defence.

Roberts is better against the tight defences we usually face, way more skill than James. Forrest plays better with space to run into. No idea how the zombies play really so unsure which would be best.

Of course it's a question. Both have very similar stats for the season. One is skillful and tricky and a bigger goal threat, the other is rapid, commits people, and defends a lot better.

Like I said I would be happy with either of them starting.

How about playing Broony and Armstrong in the deeper midfield positions and Roberts in the Rogic role behind the front three of Sinclair-Dembele-Forrest?
