The main similarities between The Beatles and Oasis are that they were the most popular British band of their time and that they both cashed in by re-releasing their old hits.

Other than some fan like references in the Oasis lyrics, the comparison with The Beatles has mainly survived due to lazy journalism.

Personally, some of Oasis's music is some of the best I've ever heard. Claims that they're uninventive when they've managed to write great songs with relatively uncomplex music just don't stand up.

Blur are a good band but they're not on Oasis's level.

Btw, if you don't feel like strutting around with a swagger after hearing the opening riff to 'Cigarettes & Alcohol', you're a * weirdo.

The Beatles all time record sales dwarf Oasis's mate.

Never debated that. Blur on oasis are in the same league tho.

Beatles tho are the most overated band ever but that's another argument

Blur and Oasis? Nowhere near the same level :56:

Definitely Maybe by itself has more worldwide sales than the whole of Blur's output throughout their entire career.
Gorillaz are Albarn's leading project in terms of sales - still dwarfed by Oasis.

Nah they aren't. You might not like them but saying they are 'overrated' is just being cuntish about their influence over not just popular music but culture, literature, film, language and a whole list of other things.

    Fair enough, my mistake.

No they are not, maybe in your mind but over 600,000,000 album sales with under 10 years worth of music says otherwise.

I liked Oasis a little bit more at the time but now I like Blur. Can't listen to Oasis anymore without wanting to tear my ears off. Blur still sound amazing to me.

Yes. Blur have sold iirc around 15million records their entire career. Their biggest selling albums (Parklife and Great Escape) both sold 2.5million copies roughly worldwide.
Definitely Maybe is cracking on for 15million sales worldwide. What's the Story is at 21million or so.
Although it depends where and what you read.

Total Oasis album sales are at 71million worldwide. Impressive.
