Narna's is the name she has used for years.

I'm not sure why both the finalists were pitching companies they already ran but were giving them new identities.

    That makes no sense still.
Fair enough its the brand she has used previous. But surely going forward she should be using the brand that won? Specially if sugar is bank rolling it?

I always wondered that about the thing.

You have this business plan that is your 'baby' and you use a name picked by some shoddy team thrown together by numpties that were fired.

Always thought "surely they have a * name for their business!!?!" :56:

There is a precedent for this type of thing though. Since the change of format from being Sugar's 'Apprentice' to 'Business Partner', naturally the contestants are going with a different set of objectives, and naturally there are those that are going to be already running legitimate businesses.

Indeed, as recently as the previous year when the winner was already operating a mechanics service (from memory) and was looking to use Sugar's investment in order to expand that. Isn't that pretty much what Alana was looking to do here, and ultimately succeeded in achieving?

If it was for an apprentice Gráinne would have won.

I think the show would be better if it was people who were out of work vying for a proper apprenticeship, there is no edge when everyone already has a cushy job or business to start with.

There have been contestants like that, but to make it this across the board would be a mistake. Besides which, Sugar's philanthropy efforts aside, he is a businessman first and foremost with a vested interest in making money. As this is his primary raison d'etre, finding the person who can maximize this for him is what he is after, not running a charity workshop.

Yep. Hate when they start or leave with "oh I'll go back to my company/business and make such and such again"

Obviously they want successful business people or up and coming but they certainly shouldn't have contestants who have 'made it' and are looking to expand....or going through the motions as they aren't overly bothered either way..

Tbh mate i think what we've ended up with is a show full of TV wannabees, trying to promote themselves and get as much camera time as possible, even Sugar himself has became a bit of a joke, there is no tension in the boardroom because the contestants have nothing to lose, i really think the format has very became tiresome, could be i'm just jaded with years of tele lol.

Think these things always have some sort of shelf life to each of us. Once you've seen a couple seasons, it all becomes samey. I took a couple years away from it, but really enjoyed the last two seasons - even though I missed last years final because of that ginger * Chris Evans spoiling the winner on his breakfast show on Monday morning. The * is the point in their iPlayer catch up service if he is just going to ruin it, with no spoiler warnings.

I think Prof has a good point in regards to the show lacking any real edge. I enjoyed this series less than any other series I have watched. Found myself zoning out almost every episode.

I think that Sugar makes millions from this series, so it doesn't make too much of a difference if the business he invests in fails. It's basically a glorified, extended version of Dragon's Den.
