Our attack is fine i agree, our problem is we cant get the ball to them in any meaningful attack....a lump up from gordon when defence is struggling is no use to anyone...and its only going to get harder.

We need a right back, Lustig will struggle against some of the more attacking minded teams in the UCL and Janko is not good enough.

Don't forget about that £10 million we were losing without the Huns, so that's over £40 million before kicking a ball in the Champions League.

    GK sorted - CG/De Vries.
    Back 3 sorted - Kolo, Erik, +1 from Lustig,Jozo, Boyata, O'Connell.
Wide men sorted - Sinclair & Roberts.
    1 up front -Griff/Moussa.
It's the middle 4. Left wing back Tierney, 1 sitting DM, who sits and protects the back line - Bitton/ Brown. So 2 positions - right wing back & "brains" calming influence in the middle.

Bench - any from CG/De Vries, Brown/Bitton, Rogic, Forrest, Griff/Moussa, Lustig/Jozo/Boyata/O'Connell, McG, Janko.

Would love Gerrard in the middle. And the big black guy from last night.

Bit dubious of the 7m gate receipts number in that calculation tbh, maybe in total revenue but must cost us a million or so to host a game in terms of all the staffs wages and policing etc.

Still, hopefully we can get a few wins to add to the $$

Thanks to sterling's 12% fall since Brexit, Celtic will get at least an extra £3M for Champions League qualification.

This also made me think that's probably why we've done so much of our business in the UK this year. Makes sense now.

Nah, seems right. At most it's about £100k per match for policing costs. For other staff much less given they'll be on no more than a living wage.

Ah fair enough then, dunno where I'm getting that number from haha just pulling it out of my * based on the amount of police and stewards you see at games, probs no where near as many as you think there are.

Aye when you consider all the extra pies/bovril we will sell probs is around the 7m mark!

This is probably the difference of playing in Europe and not.

    1st Qualifier - £125k, about 5,000 tickets sold at £15 on average £75k and £50k TV
2nd Qualifier - £855k, about 55,000 tickets sold at £15 on average and £30k TV
    3rd Qualifier - £2.6m, about 55,000 tickets sold at £15 on average + £1.7m for qualifying
    Group - £24m, £10.3m for being there, £10million from TV, 3 x 59,000 at on average £20 per ticket £3.6million

You could also include about £800k of ticket sales for the first qualifier from season tickets as season ticket holders still paid for them in reality but even leaving that out since they could have included a friendly instead.

So atleast £27.6million we have made from Europe compared to not being in it. That is a conservative estimate too(like several Thousand tickets are for hospitality which cost 2/3/4/5 times the price of normal tickets and also doesn't include the sale of food, merchandise, ht draw tickets, programmes, parking, Celtic views and whatever else is sold from these games. Or the increased number. It's probably over £30million really and thats before we get any points, every point in the CL Group Stage is worth about £420k too.

So imagine the difference if Red Imps had knocked us out £30million+ wiped out.

Mind boggling when you consider that, potentially, over a 3 months period, we could make around 60% of what we grossed, in total, from all areas last year. That's how much CL means to a Club like us.

Ideally I think it would benefit us getting in experience for the Squad. That would require good investment from Celtic, which we have the resources.

if only we had a chairman who was prepared to over invest with a 30 million warchest.. then we wouldn't need to chase this CL money every year :54:
