He is exactly what we need and I would have him back without hesitation.

happens every window: I say 'I'll just not read the media and let he window unfold.'

Then a player is linked to us that I have to follow the story of on a daily basis. McGeady seems to be it this summer.

For the right price... what would people be willing to pay for McGeady?

Personally I'd say no more than £3m... and quite frankly I don't think Lawwell would go over £3.5m.

If your suggesting a player of the age and potential Mcgeady was/had, moves to Russia for motives other than money then i think your kidding yourself. True, there was and still are very good players who play there. We were a team challeneging for titles, playing CL football. would he have gotten further in the CL with them? Do you think spartak are a bigger club than us?
he might have went to a mid table EPL side, and those sides at the time may have come in the form of a Liverpool, Tottenham.
For what its worth, i think he done well out there. but in my opinion, his career has suffered as a result of going there.

It was for money, mainly the bid we accepted.

no more than £2m. genuinely. id rather we signed another winger in the mould of Bakkali and tried to develop them to become, maybe, what mcgeady was for us back then.

I'll actually be disappointed if he isn't here for next season :smiley-laughing002:

This thread has really got my hopes up.

Can't see him being the player he was when he was here, which a lot of people seem to be absolutely convinced he will be.

I wouldn't take him because we just signed two wide players in January who both seem really promising and I'd much rather give them the game time, which will benefit both Celtic and Scotland. If McGeady comes, he's first choice meaning we either drop GMS or Armstrong. He'll be 30 next year, his pace will be gone soon. If he's happy to be backup then fine I'd much rather him than Forrest, but face it he won't come back to sit on the bench.

Problem there is Armstrong really isn't a 'wide man' and forcing him into that position won't help him.

If/when his pace eventually goes, as I have mentioned before, I think he'd be quality in the number 10 role. Personally.

Think he'd be quality at it just now. Only time we played him there was the League Cup final against Oldco he ran rampant.

I think when he left Celtic there were more then a few fans, including me, who had thought he had run his course. We know what his qualities are but he has some chunky sized weaknesses too.

I wouldn't want the old Aiden back necessarily. He hasn't been a blazing success in Russia or the EPL so why the big rush to get him back I don't know.

It's hard to say he would improve us, I don't get that either. Probably our strongest position is attacking wide midfielders and we have about 35 of them already. Do we need a 36th?

I'm not dead against it but I'm far from convinced.

Good. Paying anywhere near £3m for a 30 year old with zero resale value is pretty much the opposite of our business model.

    I don't think we'd have to pay £3m.

He wants out, Everton don't really want him and are actively targeting other wingers. From what we are also being led to believe he is only keen on a return back to Celtic and Glasgow where he is building a hoose.

£2m at the max, I think. After that it's wages we need to bother about.

And Everton just got deolofeu aswell didn't they? It's just the wages that worry me... I'd say he was on 45-50k there.... Purely a guess though

I read he was on 1.5million euros, £20k a week. That's affordable for a short term deal. If it involves a pay cut it's maybe not gonna be by all that much.
