The fact that a couple of cartoons has drawn people to do this is ridiculous.
Religion gets bashed all the time in many forms, are comedians next?
    Where is the limit?

It's quite understandable that depictions of Muhammad are illegal in countries where Islam is the state religion. I really don't think that's an issue. It may seem wrong from a Western worldview but from a Muslim worldview it's absolutely right.

The problem we have is here in the West and I actually think that the integration of Muslims into Western society is exactly what Islam needs if it's to have a place here - it needs to adapt to our values like Christianity and Judaism did. Of course there's going to be friction but I think that isolation of Muslim communities in the West is far, far more dangerous.

In France, I believe that the civilian police (in cities) don't usually carry guns. The Gendarmes (technically they're part of the military, and you see them more in the countryside) do carry guns, I've seen them carrying FAMAS's in the parisian metro many a time.

It was only a matter of time before that was hinted at.

The limit comes when people and organisations are too afraid to be critical of Islam.

Because Saudi Arabia and Qatar are the principle funders of ISIS.

Far right extremists in Europe and America are portrayed as nutjobs (thats what they are) and have little to no public support.

Groups like ISIS, Al-Qaeda and so many others have massive public support in many Muslim countries. 700 French Muslims went to fight in Syria and Iraq recently. They gave up a relatively safe, comfortable life to go to a hellish warzone, hundreds of others from Europe have also done the same. That's scary and it can't be dismissed.

One of the Police killed was assigned to protect one of the cartoonists, he was probably armed, but a handgun wont do much against Automatic Rifles, The Terrorists also shot up the First Response Unit which is armed.

An attack on a magazine publishers is a warning to the French Government? Why not attack a military barracks? Or a Government building?

There're 2 million practicing Muslims in France. So 0.035% of the Muslim population in France gave up that life.

Why attack a magazine though? I'm not going to pretend I'm a regular reader of this magazine :smiley-laughing002: but I can't imagine them being big on Western foreign policy, strange place to attack if what you're saying is the case...

I'm struggling to see why that effects some terrorists that we don't know the nationality of.
