    Struggling with this one.

I'm selling 2x brand new unopened iPhone 5S 16GB in two seperate auctions.

I put this on last night, and I keep getting ebay messages from people saying they will pay over the odds?

The phones are on as £325 starting each, but someone is offering me £520 to post it outside the UK, and another £495 to post to London and I've to send paypal details.

The going rate of the handsets are £460.

anybody know what they are attempting to do? or is it legit?

How long have you put the listing on for? It is bizarre that they're offering to pay way over your starting price before any bids have been placed.

It is legit but I'd be a little worried sending it abroad as they could claim they never received it and ask for a refund through PayPal, eBay always almost side with the buyer.

theres been a bid on both phones mate its just strange they can get it from apple for £459 but they want to pay me £495. :56:

EDIT : boy who wants to pay £530 wants it sent to Nigeria, and royal mail signed for is £15 to Lagos.

Not sure if its worth the risk/hassle.

il give him both handsets in return he leaves the hoops.

No chance I'm posting to Nigeria, as CH4 said let it ride its course is the fair way especially as people are bidding already.

You've turned your own question into a rhetorical one, "Should I send my £460 device to the scam centre of the universe?"

    They'll have hacked paypal accounts.
They'll pay and the money will go into your account.
    You send the phones.
A few days later you'll get a transaction reversal from paypal.
    No phones, no money.
Let the auctions run and check the winner's feedback before posting.

As above, its a complete scam......

Ebay used to be rife with this back in the day...

I always add "no nigerian scammers" to every listing, also "listing only, no private sale, item will be sent once payment clears in paypal".... usually keeps them away.

Report the details to ebay as well

I never send out the UK tbh as it's just more hassle.

Sent a game to Belgium once but that was it.

Ebay is full of con artists.

Sell them somewhere with cash in hand, making sure the cash is real too.

High value items like phones bring out all the fraudsters.

I recently got ripped off on ebay.

Sold a used Galaxy S3 LTE is near perfect condition but locked to Orange.

The person later claimed the phone was modified and didn't have warranty as it was modified, so wasn't as described.

I didn't say the phone did have warranty.

Ebay ruled they could return it for a refund.

The phone wasn't sent back. Then after a few weeks the money was taken out of my paypal account and case closed. The phone was still with the buyer.

I had to fight with ebay to review the case. They froze the case for a bit then requested the buyer send the phone.

They provided a tracking number but nothing arrived at my end. Ebay use managed return now through a company who say they left the phone outside my door.

Ebay ruled I had given an incorrect return address and closed the case again. However the address listed on file and on the dispute process page that went directly to the buyer was 100% correct.

Had to fight for weeks to get ebay to give me my money back. I think I just wasted too much of their time and they wanted peace. Otherwise I'd have been out of pocket a fair amount.

Loads of folk have been ripped off.

How come so many people acquire so many unwanted Apple devices?

Nobody has offered me a free one.

The handsets are £459 now but will lose value now the 6 is out.

I dont sell nothing above £20 odd on there tbh. Whats stopping them buying your phone, saying its broke and posting you back a brick in a box? Ebay will refund them everytime and your screwed near everytime.

You've got their address though so you can deliver their brick back to them personally.

These handsets wont dip by more than £20 once the 6 is released, they hold their value extremely well.

To those who asked- friend of mine with a business gave me them as hes closing down his company. He had funds for mobiles left over with o2 and couldnt get cash in exchange. I told him to buy these with the funds and I would pay cash for them. Everybody wins:50:
