Over the last month or so, with the war in Gaza i have read many articles, comments and forums on peoples views.

While some are reasonable debates on the subject, i have also seen many comments that frankly make me very uneasy, such as:

(* Zionist pigs, a bullet in everyone one of there heads would do the world a better turn.)

(Its all to do with money with the Zionists)

Of course you get the articles and comments that are quite clearly antisemitism.

But it is the people who are using the above comments (and some much worse) and replacing the word Jew with Zionist, if someone pulls them up on it they always say im not anti-Semite i am anti-Zionist.
Most of the time i just can not believe that.

To me there is a very fine line currently between the distinctions.

Not even close to being the same thing. Based on the thread title it would suggest the many Jews that were out protesting against Israel and Zionism are antisemitic.

I am pretty clued up on the Palestine-Israel crisis.
I know of the many Jews who are protesting against the occupation.

I am, however, on about the people who use the comments i posted.
If you simply replace the word Zionist with Jew in the comments you have antisemitism.

you could also ads a word to most arguments or insults that would turn a statement into a bigoted/sectarian or racist one.

Replace one word in several sentences you could have racism, homophobia, sexism ect. doesn't mean the original sentence is any of the above.

Could say the same for catholics and republicanism just an easy get out of jail card but it's not hard to tell the difference between an anti-semite and an anti-zionist

Yes, but Judaism and Zionism are pretty closely linked.
Some of the articles i have read are like something that was written about the Jews in 1920's Europe, of course with replacing a few words.

Now last month in Belfast there were many anti Zionist protests held that were in no way antisemitic. Meanwhile in the same week a synagogue was attacked and a window smashed this was antisemitic. Now the people that attacked the synagogue are in no way clued in to what is going on.

Just cause they are closely linked doesn't make them the same thing.

Portraying anything Anti-Israel, thus Anti-Zionist as Anti-Semitic is just something the Pro-Israeli media do to try and dismiss and criticisms of there regime and to destroy he credibility of anyone who does criticise them.

no antisemitism is hating Jews because they are Jews. Antizionism is hating the state of israel for occupying someone elses land that they stole. That would be my thinking on the issue

There are some people with agendas in both camps; some people who claim to be anti-Zionist but the truth is they are really just anti-Judaism and anti-Jew. Then on the Zionist side you get those who don't really give one * about religion or the holocaust but will use both to their advantage in an argument and the anti-semtic insult whenever they can so that they can try and destroy debate and try and justify their oppression of another people.

This is an example of the some Zionists who in the end don't give one * about Holocaust But the same people will use it when it suits them.

The Zionist state are actually paying students to go onto social media to increase the image of Israel and to call anyone who opposed Israel antisemitic. They are panicking and the word antisemitism is their way of trying to shut people up. Horrible government and army. The IDF are the aggressors and terrorists in this case. I my self am anti Zionist but I absolutely detest antisemitism.

Anti semetic is a misnomer as Palestinians are Semites also...

And Zionism is only around 100 years old, while judiasm goes back thousands....They are not the same.
