He could start with opening his eyes, this tactic has been causing havoc in our defence and has created very little going forward. The players aren't top drawer but minus Fraser Forster/Ledley this is the same team that made it through to the group stage last season & I fail to believe the teams we have played have progressed so much as to demolish us 6-1 on aggregate and then comfortably beat us tonight. Ronny may like this tactic and it may bare fruit in years to come but it was obvious it wasn't working with the players WE CURRENTLY HAVE. 6 months ago offer the Maribor manager our squad or his and its a no brainier who he'd take. It's tactics and planning that allowed him to beat us, not better players! Therefore this is Ronnys fault! He sets the team-up, he picks the players, issues orders and motivates. The same as the Maribor manager but with a lesser budget and poorer players he came out on top. Plain and simple.

This loss runs deeper than merely a poor day at the office.
Lenny would never have left this job without a firm offer from England. We can only speculate as to why he cut ties with his Celtic but it must be something to do with the seeming lack of investment from Lawell.
Not bashing the man here he has stabilized Celtic financially and been pivotal in our recent breaks in Europe. HOWEVER for a club that still claims to be one of the biggest in the world our recent transfer activity has been nothing short of an embarrassment. To the supporters who still invest their hard earned money into the team, whether that be via tickets or merchandise, we are not getting value for money anymore. We will never do a Rangers, £12 million for Flo would be extortionate today never mind 15 years ago but why are we not seeing talented players arriving from other Leagues for £4/5 million.
We must accept that money talks and the lure of the Premier League is too much for players to turn down so players like Hooper, Forster and Victor must not be blamed for leaving but what we cannot accept is the £25 million plus made from the transfers not being heavily reinvested into the team. These players arrived relatively cheap, they grew as players at Celtic and gave us some great memories before leaving for a healthy profit, HOWEVER we have been lucky in how these transfers worked out, for every hooper weve had more than one dud, bangura to name one. Yet why was Mackay not given the job? A Celtic man, good managerial history and a free agent, the man would have been instantly accepted by the fans unlike Ronny who we must all admit to knowing nothing about previously.
I hope Ronny eclipses Lenny but Lenny was another gamble taken by Lawell that worked, we must stop gambling with this clubs short term successes. We cannot be a selling club, that is not Celtic but we are seemingly being touted around England as a feeder club. Players must come to Celtic with the intention to finish their career here and leave with an array of medals and a * like status afforded only by clubs like Celtic, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Im not calling for Lawell to go, hes too valuable to us and he will make sure we the word debt doesn’t exist in Celtics vocabulary. And Ronny will hopefully work out in the end, but we cannot allow for a manager to grow into the job he must arrive and command the respect of the fans immediately.
Im glad we didn’t qualify as we would have just been embrassed by some of Europes elite, however that still doesn’t take away from the fact that Glasgow Celtic expects Champions League football every season, failure to achieve this instantly makes this season a failure regardless of the whether we win the Treble.

 

Shear * neglect of the first team by the board. That's the main cause of tonight

I really wanted Deila to do well and I believed it would all come together for him but aftet this I have to say that he needs to go. His tactics tonight were set up like that of a nut. He just can't handle this job.

What, playing in a prosperous league, paying £60 million for one player? Get yer head screwed on, considering the amount of money we make selling we're a joke of a club, not stepping a foot back in CP until Lawwell is gone. First season in 6 years i've felt this way, why give my money to a bunch of robbing * who care nothing about the fans and the club, only the balance sheet.

Game could've gone either way tonight: we hit the bar and missed a sitter and they took a chance from a good cross and a bunch of ricochets. Having said that we should've grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and certainly shouldn't have played a home tie without scoring. Very poor performance by our strikers; Johansen was terrible first half and Ambrose was shocking and lucky not to cost us a goal.

Disappointed but in truth we didn't deserve to be playing Maribor in the first place. At least we've got the Europa League, hopefully we can get beyond the group stages.

The board need to bring in a Victor Wanyama. Our defence looked completely exposed tonight the whole game. Stoke was also awful as the lone striker, not that we didn't know that. He tried to give him his credit, but he just can't pull it off.
