Ronny needs a new string for his bow pretty quickly. He started threading it tonight.

Other than a spell at the start of the second half, I felt comfortable. We could easily have won the game, but I'm happy with the result and performance.

What a difference a couple of weeks and an Admin error makes. Well pleased with that performance and should go through now.

I think dropping Commons made this game what it is, clearly in the first half Maribor where expecting him to start and sat back accordingly hoping to sucker us in and hit is on the break.

Didn't work and we played with discipline in the first half. Then they obviously adjusted for the second.

    Great decision by Ronny.

Fantastic result. Rode our luck at times but we could have won it ourselves. Confident we'll finish it off at Paradise.

I don't think Stokes likes this whole "pressing" business. * was absolutely shattered :smiley-laughing002:

Kayal was outstanding, as was Johansen (excluding his goal-line clearance for Maribor). I know he stumbled and ruined the chance, but his run to burst through the defence was brilliant.

I thought McGregor and Berget were both excellent tonight. We lost alot of creativity in attack when Berget went off.

The defending seemed to improve throughout the game. We gave away a shocking goal 'cause Van Dijk and Mulgrew were both out of position but aside from that there wasn't too many *-ups. Craig Gordon looked good as well with a few decent saves.

Kayal was the man of the match for me. His work rate was excelllent, and his speed at closing down and breaking up Maribor's attacks made up for Mulgrew's lack of mobility.

I'll genuinely be surprised if we don't. I expect us to go through now.

Excellent performance from the team and the manager. Weren't lulled into what they wanted us to do. Really unlucky not to win in the end. You'd take 1-1 away then back to Celtic Park any day. Don't think Ronny will allow the team to be over confident. Get through and buy a * striker :50:

Im delighted with tonight. I thought we could easily have scored 3 or 4. As someone already mentioned, Deila has shown that he can learn from previous errors. We held on to the result well tonight.

We still look a bit dodgy at the back though and when Efe came on he was at his bombscare best. We need to get the defence sorted and we need to bring in a striker.

    Fair point.

I was trying to preempt the negativity with a positive thread, I needn't have worried though, everyone is quite upbeat. Good to see.

I'd have taken that result all day long if it was offered before the game, actually gutted not to have finished them off though! So unlucky with those two headers.

Taking everything into consideration that was a really good result. I thought it was a brave yet correct decision to leave Commons out but im sure he will play in the home leg. I thought Kayal and Van Dijk played really well and im confident we can beat them 1 or 2-0 at home. Stokes ran about daft all night sort of a typical European away team attacking role.

I agree, and there was a pic on twitter by Matt mcglone that made it look like Stokes was free alongside him but that was harsh after watching replay it was a split second stokes was free as he broke , but as you say ball just caught up in his feet.

I was quite pleased watching it. Other than playing a short corner with a minute to go I thought we were right to shut up shop and take the 1-1. Had enough chances but would always take a score draw away from home.

    Quietly confident about next week.
