Brilliant and all Larsson was the support he got from Celtic , from the players on the team and the fans in the stands made him an awesome super star .

I remember his goal in World Cup and seen a few highlights when the Dutch league goals were shown on eurosport at the time. I thought he looked a decent player. Then again, the highlights also made Blinker look good as well.

He didn't have the best of starts with the Hibs game and an own goal against Tirol. At that point, I was hoping he would get better instead of expecting it.

Yeah he was decent but he improved massively at Celtic. I don't think there is many that would argue with that, because we seen the improvement over the years. He fine tuned his skills and just got better and better.

I did not really know much about Larsson when he signed for us in 1997 so I had no idea what to expect or hope for at the time.

I'm too young to remember this as well but...

He had 73 goals in 120 games in Swedish league football. He was an up-and-coming star of the Swedish national team who came 3rd at the 1994 World Cup. He flopped at Feyenoord, most of which he blamed on it being foreign and the poor management at the time.

He was highly recognizable because of his dreads at the world cup, but didnt particularly make a big impression
when he got here he wasn't the player he would turn into.
he wasnt even signed as a striker.
my * he made an impression after he got here

And thank * we were!!! Bar Jackson, Rieper Burley and of course Ghod were absolutely fantastic players for Celtic! Rieper was a rock in defence Burley was good for double figures goals wise including match winners like the 1-0 Hearts game that season! Then if course there was the Bhoy who would be KHING!!

I remember seeing him being paraded about Parkhead with a massive Celtic badge and didnt think anything of it. Then talking to a mate later on in the season about who the best player at Celtic is, My answer...... Reggie F*CKIN BLINKER!!

ThisIsGhod you probably don't know much about Reggie Blinker which tells you how bad this guy was!

I remember the signing very well, i was around 10 years old and reading the newspaper outside were the old amusements used to be down at Largs. I did not know much about him, But i had a feeling he was going to be something special, Even though i was only young.

we had been completely and utterly spoilt with attackers around that time , cadete ( world class ) PVH , Di Canio, Brattback . I had alot of faith in the judgement of wim jansen and people at the club as we had alot of succesful signings. It would continue with viduka , sutton etc ( how times have changed ) . I thought larsson would be a good signing but more of a cult type signing , never in a million years did anyone think he would become the greatest striker scotland has ever seen . Just thought he would be another good foreigner pasing through as was the theme in that era. Mid to late nineties , even though we didnt win much were my favourite times as a celtic fan . The stadium was new and exciting , we had the three amigos , plus henrik and some other absolute beasts , * nostalgic !

Thought he was decent at the World Cup 94' and Sweden were a good side then. Expected him to be good...just not as good as he was!
