I saw only Robben playing for the Dutch. Others were nullified by Mexican teamwork. The refereeing was tricky during the whole game. I believe Martins Indi should've been off in the first half. A dirty kick into a Mexican player. The fact that only a set piece could give Netherlands the equalizer speaks volumes. No wonder they wiped the floor with my country, Mexico displayed more tonight as well. Their opponents scored from a mistake basically(nobody guarded the edge of the penalty area). Fair play for being able to do that, but Netherlands were lucky.

C'mon Greece! Very first time in the top 16 in a world cup. Santos, our coach, told the players "it's you match of your life". Big moments for the "small" Greek team as English, Spanish, Italian teams etc didn't go through.

I used to be annoyed but now I just kind of feel sorry for you if this is your reaction after a fantastic second half between two really good sides. This is the second straight WC where CONMEBOL and CONCACAF have had a higher proportion go to the knockouts than Europe. If I recall correctly you wanted CONCACAF to give one of their spots to Asia. You're making it out as if they just got annihilated in the group stage - they just got pipped in the 94th minute by one of the top 3 teams in the world and this is something like their 4th time in a row advancing from the group stages. They're good! This is supposed to be fun! Just enjoy the matches and put your weird obsession behind you. By the way, I actually agree with you; I'd love to see a combined federation, but the Caribbean countries who hold all the power in CONCACAF will never allow that. Think it's time for the US, Canada, Mexico, and Central America to tell the islands to * off and leave by themselves

Back to the match, whether it's a penalty or not I think the Dutch deserved it because Mexico stopped playing after they got their goal. This World Cup has proved that you just can't do that - how many teams have gone up and then surrendered the lead after becoming too defensive? It's been an amazing one for sure. I love the Mexico team but really dislike Marquez, so I can't complain if that's his last action in the tricolor.

Marquez made only one mistake- he went for Robben, when Reyes would've gotten to the ball, had Rafa left him alone. Otherwise, he showed why the libero role should be featured more often. I hope some young Mexican player can be the new libero for the NT. The whole 3 central defenders tactical idea has seen a revival. Great for football.

 

Hate when Ian Wright calls Hoddle Gaffer

 

He is anything but average. His passing out from the back is second to none.

I still think he is a defensive midfielder, but so far he has been solid at the back for Brazil. It just seems because he is not the conventional lets hoof it at every opportunity the English press just heap all the blame on him.
