Can't imagine how bad the Mexicans will feel, losing 2 late goals like that then had a tie against Costa Rica or Greece for a semi final spot next.

But as soon as they scored they sat really deep and that's what happens. Holland deserved at least a draw.

 

Marquez didn't hit him, watch the replay, robben went down after he ran his leg up against marquez and was already going down, contoact was minimal and the only intent was from Robben to go down.

Even Ruud von nistelrooy changed his mind and said it was not a penalty after watching the replays.

 

Nah, just genuinely interested. Watched it with my Dutch girlfriend, she's happy they won but thinks Robben is a scumbag. Other Dutch people don't care. Win at all costs, I guess, but Robben leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth. But hey, let's not get into referee decision, as if we did, Robben would be sent off at least every second game with the amount of bookings he would get for diving. Good luck in the next game, you guys should win it. I'd worry about the semis though.

 

Yes he was looking for it, because Marquez randomly stuck his foot out and gave him an excuse to go down and Robben was obviously going to take it. Diving is when you go down when there is clearly no contact, in this instance there was definite contact which gave Robben an excuse to go down. And there clearly was enough contact for a penalty... because the referee gave it.

Quit being jelly.

He didn't dive, he made the most of it. It was a blatant foul from Márquez.

It clearly wasn't a penalty, Roben dived, but referee should have given a penalty to Holland earlier in the 1st half so it's fair enough. Well done to Netherlands

 

LOL watch the replays, Marquez was trying to play the ball, and his foot never touched robben, Robben overstepped him and hit marquez's thigh almost and was already on the way down, it was a dive, he went down to try and win the penalty, he wasn't tripped or forced to go down, im a US fan so I was pulling for the Dutch but in reality they dont deserve to be going through after that game.

 

Clear as day penalty. Case closed. Respect the Dutch!

The first goal was the stupid one. Why didn't Mexico have a player at the edge of the area, to block a potential shot?

Dud?? I like your posts generally, but here you're dead wrong. Mexico looked terrifyingly good here, and were undone by a set piece goal basically, and then a penalty. Netherlands were playing with one and a half player in this game: Robben and I guess Huntelaar.

Holland deserved the victory Leone. They should have had a couple of penalties before they equalized and out-played a Mexican team who tried to hang on for a win.

They'd really struggle if they had to qualify along with the South American teams instead of the likes of Jamaica etc.

 

Greece doing that and the thing they did for Jay is making me forgive their * football and start supporting them...even if they play in blue.
