Asking Out A Female Friend?

Went out with a good friend of mine in 6th year of School, we had been good pals since about 4th year.

Went out for 4 years and eventually broke up and it has completely destroyed our friend group, I don't see her or a couple of my other female friends as often, and she doesn't see my best mates as much as we used to.

The problem was that we both shared the same friend group ie my friends were her friends and vice versa. So when we broke up after 4 years, it absolutely destroyed our friend group and now it very awkward at certain parties and stuff.

My current girlfriend was more of an "associate" than a close friend before we started going out, as in she has her own friend group and I have mine. I'm really happy with this the way it is, not that I think I'll be breaking up with her or anything.

My advice would be, try to think about the consequences that it will have on your friend group - I regret going out with a very close friend and having to see not just my own friendships get destroyed but other friends as well all because of our relationship.

I did the same with a girl when i was about 17........but i lost out when she started going out with a work collegue....and has been with him 30 years!!!

I think people get the hint just when talking/hanging about each other often enough if one likes the other. Either that or im just great at noticing.
