We should have two teams, one for the League based more around possession and creativity and one for Europe based more on pace, strength and counter-attack.

Domestic
Forster
Ambrose Van Dijk Mulgrew
Biton
Forrest Brown Johansen
Commons
Stokes Pukki

Europe
Forster
Lustig Ambrose Van Dijk Izaguirre
Brown Mulgrew
Matthews Forrest Boerrigter
Balde

For the League we could do with a Hooper type to partner Pukki or Stokes. For Europe probably a better attacking midfielder and big striker ideally two like Lubo/Naka/Petrov and Viduka/Sutton/Hartson/Van Hooijdonk but theyd probably be more like Jarosik and Vennegoor given our budget.

I was actually thinking the same regarding they three players. Izaguirre must be one of the first names on the teamsheet just now.

Canna see Forrest or Boerrigter being used anywhere but out wide to be honest....and short of one of them being sold, I canna see either one of them not being in first team plans as thing stand. Not necessarily deservingly so in the case of Boerrigter.

But on his wages, he'll have to continue to be given a chance in his preferred position, out wide.

Firstly I don't think Stokes and Pukki compliment each other at all the way we play but secondly why would you play a striker up front on his own in only the most important games of the season?

I wouldn't mind 4-3-3 style but I don't think that's gonna happen with Pukki, Balde and Stokes all available, especially if you are wanting Commons up front as well..

Looking at a midfield of Brown Kayal and Mulgrew fills me with nowhere near as much confidence on a European level that Brown, Mulgrew and Ledley. To be honest going on the last couple of years form/injuries I wouldn't have Kayal anywhere near the starting XI. I just hope this Stefan turns out a winner.

Johansen's arrival would make Ledley's departure a wee bit easier to take.

I hope he doesn't leave, but if he does, I think Celtic will have done good business to replace him.

That's news to me , I thought he is an outstanding defensive
Midfielder . Great positioning. A variety of long and short passes
and an ability to move forward and have a dig .

He's not an attacking mid either, he's a central midfielder.

As is this Norwegian fella.

And on what grounds are people above me assuming he'd be a good replacement for Ledley? I hope Joe stays at Celtic, IMO he's always been an outstanding player for the club.

I am of the opinion that Mulgrew has ALREADY replaced Ledley in the left sided CM position, even with no new signings (assuming classic 4-4-2).<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Of course, this leaves us short of cover at Mulgrew’s previous position of CB. Wouldn’t consider Mulgrew as a LB or LM.

What do you think?

Preferred posistion is in the hole behind the striker. Sure I've heard that bit I'll look and see if I can find any quotes

Totally agree. I am still hoping Ledley stays and signs a new extended deal. Not just has he been such a consistent performer for us but he has come up with so many importanmt goals in big games which is what quality players do. He would be a massive loss IMHO.
