    But those are isolated examples. What's to say the player we take in in his place doesn't make the same interventions? When I say he isn't a game changer I mean he doesn't make the difference week in week out like Commons and Van Dijk do.

    And what's to say that Balde or Atajic wouldn't have scored more had they been given the same amount of chances?

    I mentioned Brown as well, in brackets because of the assumption that he's clearly not droppable. Those players have all done well but there is no reason why we can't switch them out sometimes to have a look at another player. Fisher is a good example, playing him over Lustig hasn't lost us any games, why can't we replace Ledley with Henderson for a game?

    In the nicest way possible, why pay our top earner (or in that region) for a week to sit on the bench on a whim to fit in a relative unknown?

    That's not isolated, that's consistent as *. Lustig was in the running for player of the year before his injury, you don't drop players like that for youngsters for no reason, they'd be off like a shot and we'd be left with only the youngsters.
