    The Beckham Show highlights:

Agreed man, first half was shocking! Defence was pityful got the goals.

McGeady was brilliant. Hartley who managed the full game was * terrible.

Think we should go for mullet man from Columbia.

Think i'll need to take today off work! YAWN!! World of Warcraft time!!! :50:

Wrecked, 2 bottles of wine and beaten 2-0. I hope Limerick 37 V Athlone Town is a better result tonight. :47:

No he didn't? He seemed rather knowlegable to me, whereas the other two where just "HYUK HYUK DID IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH DAVID BECHINGHAM? BECAUSE IF IT DIDN'T I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!!!"

I'll feel sorry for them when Becks plays his first few games and they realise he's not actually THAT good.

We were poor tonight McGeady is the only one that showed some class when he came on. Disapointed hope it is like last year and has nothing to do with this season! I expected more! :54:

Have had a fair amount of Ale, and it's time to get some sleep here, but just a few thoughts from a Yank perspective on the match tonight.
First, you are definitely better set up at this point than you were last year when came Stateside to play DC United, etc..., not just in bringing more of your better players but also in organization. Chicago will be one hard pressed team this Sunday, and it seems that by the time August and September roll around Celtic should be in fine form to start the SPL and m\take a serious crack at the Champion's League :50:
Also to the good, there were two players that stood out, from this MLS fans perspective, tonight for Celtic. Boruc is simply a world class keeper. The man you had last year for these matches seemed a bit overwhelmed, but it's hard to see what could overwhelm Boruc. The penalty, of course, was finely saved. But his quickness and bravery in closing down on what seemed to be sure goals was very impressive. Do NOT let him get away from you! The second player was your left flanker [or at least he often made runs along the left] McGeady. Creative, strong, clever, direct. Easily the most impressive field player for the Bhoys tonight.
As for the rest, well all to one extent or another seemed to be a little off. Its preseason. The game was at unusual altitude. The playing surface seemed very fast [both sides had problems with this]. And perhaps there was a residue of last year's mistake of taking the opposition lightly. In any case, it was a friendly, and a competitive one, and I hope it helped in sorting out who should play.....As for Gravesen, it does not seem there will be much to miss at all if he does transfer, eh?
I'm proud of my MLS side, if for no other reason in that it is a team that has practiced only one day together and will never exist again as such past tonight [last year's all star team, the one that defeated Chelsea, had very little overlap with this years'. It could have been just a collection of individual efforts, but Steve Nicol was able to cajole them into a semblance of team play. Perhaps that's what caught Celtic off guard. In any case the Chicago Fire, your next opponent , is a genuine team. It is also struggling this year [if the MLS had relegation, Chicago would be near the zone], even though it has some good talent. It should challenge you, but not seriously threaten you. Prediction; Celtic 3-Chicago 1.
For a friendly, this was not bad today. Thanks, and I'll be keeping in touch through the summer and this next year. Cheers :celt_2:

I've got us as winning 9-8 mate
    Basle 1-0
    Boys Swiss 1-4
    Peterborough 2-1
    QPR 5-1
    All Stars 0-2

Anyway it's a * of a lot better than we did last pre-season, and I wouldn't be too worried about the result, the MLS is about mid-season, so the all star team are pretty much at their peak while we're just trying to get back in our groove. Don't forget Chelsea lost to them last year, as did Fulham the year before.

I say roll on August 5th! Mon The Hoops!!

    Found this good:

The Offical Excuse List, from Celtic Minded:

they're half way through their season

they are undefeated in over 4 yrs versus European sides

    they beat Chelski last year

the pitch was as big as legally possible

we were on top of a mountain

    there wis no air

    pressley is *

brown was more interested in kicking folk

    miller is *

    gravesen cannae pass

    no naka

the frenzy over becks distracted us

    it wis 200 degrees celcius

they used more subs than us

    wilsons no fit

    naylor got injured

Not a bad match, although it's hard to tell much from pre season, we've looked good against average teams (qpr+peterborough 2nd half) and a bit wobbly against a decent side Young boys and last night. I'm confident we've got enough in the squad to win the league i'm thinking we still need a couple more QUALITY signings to get past the CL last 16 though.
