Jeez mate with that logic then every other team in group stages of CL should be able to rape us royally.

Stokes is a perfectally capable player for us and if the only thing a Celtic player gets marked on is his european matches then * me our squad is dire to the core.

BTW i'm pretty sure there is a HUGE difference between the teams Stokes and Hooper played in when it comes to the CL, however in the brief moment they played together in the same team in Europa they were each others equals because of who they had around them at the time.

'Stokes is a very capable player in Europe'

That's why he's failed to score in his last 17 European games?

The 17 European games Stokes has played since scoring 2 against Rennes:

    Atletico Madrid
    Udinese
    HJK Helsinki
    Cliftonville (2)
    Elfsborg (2)
    AC Milan (2)
    Barcelona (2)
    Ajax (2)
    KR Reykjavík
    Legia Warszawa
    Maribor (2)

It's STAGGERING that he hasn't scored at least 1 goal in that time.

Some of those teams we beat easily and he still never scored.

It's actually 18 games since his last European goals.

    Karagandy at Celtic Park too.

How many goals have we scored in europe since hooper and stokes?

how many of those goals came from our strikers in hooper and stokes?

were a guy is being pulled up for his goal return in europe i'd be surprised if the majority of our goals is from our strikers.

Since the sale of players like Wilson, Wanyama (the biggest miss) and Hooper, our over performances in europe have been shoddy and weak, when someone so pivotal to the team's play like Wanyama is plucked out of the team it really throws a spanner in the works.

And since then none of our players have looked "comfortable" in europe but I will always feel that Stokes in the CL was the one of a few who seemed like they were able at that the level and basically was one of the best from a bad bunch from a campaign that turned to * the moment Wanyama and Co were sold.

The team overall is *, there is no denying that at all, but there is a pretty clear connection to me that since our "Barca conquering" team was pretty much dismantled goals have dried up and Stokesy is getting the brunt of it because he is the only striker left from those days.

I don't see Commons getting this much flack for his goal return

As I've said before, I wouldn't want to see Stokes being a lone striker ever again. But wouldn't mind him playing behind Guidetti or Scepovic the odd game.

See that I wouldn't mind, I actually think Stokes could play the role Commons does if put into that position.

Stokes has his uses, you just don't expect him to be something he isn't but he is a perfectly capable Celtic player and you know what you will get out of him if you play him correctly.

A feel for Stokes:54:. He gets some amount of abuse of Celtic fans for being *. It's a shame. But its fully warranted:smiley-laughing002:

He's not necessarily '*', the guy scores 15-20 goals every season for us. He's a great player for us to have as far as domestic competition goes.

He just can't do it in Europe, hence the reason we've signed Scepovic and Guidetti.

No true Celtic supporter should ever refer to any Celtic player as * . Certainly not a player of Stoke' ability . He hasn't been our best striker over the past four years but each and every year he has pitched in with vital and useful goals .
