I see the Attorney General is to review the sentence as it could be considered 'unduly lenient'.
His lawyer claimed the offences were 'at the less serious end of the scale', I'm not sure there is a 'lower end' where a 9 year old girl is involved.

Just reading through the news article and saw this

The court was told Hall bought her a drink in a pub before sexually assaulting her in his car.She burst into tears, telling her parents what had happened after Hall took her home. Her angry father went to find Hall but he was nowhere to be seen. The family decided not to report the matter

Why the * would you not report it?

Looks like one of those cases where the only people not taken into consideration are the victims.

His "Guilty" plea has certainly went in his favour.

Just over a month for each victim.

Yes - another tick of the box for the justice system.

It's shocking that the sentence is based on the terms when the abuse took place. If it happened last year, he would have been handed a heavier sentence. The law is a joke.

Although, the attorney general's office has received requests to review the punishment. They can impose a heavier sentence is the original verdict is unduly lenient.

Guidelines state that a judge hearing a historic matter should sentence the accused in line with tariffs that were considered appropriate at the time of the offence.

It happens quite regularly... I remember reading about a pair of nuns who thrashed residents at a childrens home during the 60's. They were tried in the 90's, found guilty of multiple assaults, but were admonished as their behaviour would not have been considered worthy of punishment at the time of their crimes.

I think it's a piece of nonsense for crimes like Hall's or the nuns I mentioned. If you abuse a vulnerable person, then you should be sentenced as per current guidelines.
