    Celtic do it also.

They give the number of tickets sold as the attendance.

I imagine most clubs do the same.

    cheers pal.
    just found it strange.
24000 is an aweful lot though.
but as you said it would make sense for tickets sold to be tge figure.

Im sure most clubs do likewise, but Man utd and the english media continuously harp on about how well they are supported. Also they are under the impression they have a global fan base of 500m. Remind you of anyone else?

Pretty sure most clubs do the same. There certainly wasn't over 70,000 at the Reading game on a monday night last month so this doesn't surprise me

Liverpool are probably the only club in the UK who fill their stadium for every game.

Was thinking more about the global fanbase claims tbf. And that was based more on the Liverpool fans I personally know.

I'm pretty sure every team counts attendances as tickets sold, not people through the turnstiles.

But the police need to do an actual count which is where these figures come from.

To be honest I think it's a myth when talk comes up of teams fiddling their figures to make it look as though more people were attending.

They would be just giving themselves more tax to pay for absolutely no reason at all, if I was a chairman at Man U I would rather put less than more in ? just doesn't make any sense.
