Thought he played well tonight. He's lightening quick for a centre half but I always feel he's a mistake waiting to happen.

I still think he is rotten but he played ok.

He still managed a few hairy moments though. That's the thing with him, he cannot be trusted at all.

Just another clean sheet for Efe. :icon_mrgreen:

In fairness I would like to see the difference of the amount of clean sheets we keep when Ambrose is in the team and when he isn't.

He's been solid the past 2 games, making a mockery of the folk that like to slaughter him.

Makes mistakes regularly aye but he is a good player when he's focussed which is normally beside VVD.

The two teams we have played in the last two games must have accumulated a grand total of 2 shots on target though. Barely had to break a sweat. Only time he was properly challenged in the box last night and Osman beat him to it in the air by miles and nearly scored, Van Dijk was going nuts.

Still have Denayer ahead of him all day.

It's amazing the ups and downs of our fans. A couple hairy moments and it will be back to slaughtering him. Not good enough.

He's a good back up. I'm more than happy to have him there as back up.

He has good attributes, he's just mentally slow a lot.

Fantastic pace for a centre half and can bring the ball out, but alot of the time gets lost.

However, there are more negatives to his game. Whoever looked at him when he was young and said 'efe, one day you'll make a great centre half' needs to be sacked:smiley-laughing002: Without his pace he'd be alot worse off as there aint much else there which you need to be a centre half.

His positioning is excellent, his covering is brilliant, wins a lot in the air as well. Literally his only problem is in his own head, his decision making and concentration is awful.

I see people say a lot of the time "without his pace he'd be etc etc" but he has his pace, so it doesn't really matter. It's like saying without Larsson's finishing ability he wouldn't be as good. It doesn't really mean anything.

Have to disagree with positioning and winning alot in the air.

Half of the time when he goes to challenge for the ball he comes right through the back of the player or over the top and gives away fouls, done it at least two or three times last night. I also gave the example of Osman beating him to it by miles as he wasn't concentrating at all and timed his jump awfully. That is just one example of what he is like. He has a '50p heed' as we used to say.

His only strength is his pace in my honest opinion, thats why I keep mentioning it.

I will admit he has played at a decent level the past few matches but I still wouldn't have him starting if we had a choice, we had looked alot more sturdy when he was out the side prior to Denayer's injury as well. Back up, as you said, then aye.

Making a mockery of anyone slaughtering him because he had a solid game against 10 man Hearts who barely got in our half never mind near our goal.

Also, he's a good player but regularly makes mistakes. A good player doesn't regularly make mistakes.

He's a bombscare, shouldn't be near the team.

Should he have been nowhere near the team when we didn't have an on loan Man City youth player? Or have we just decided that now we have something better.

He formed an excellent partnership last season with VVD last season which was a large part of why we went on a run of games without conceding any goals.

Do I think he is Jaap Stam? No. Is he better than most would have you believe? 100%. The abuse he receives is OTT.

Even on his best form he was a worry. Mis-timing headers, overplaying at the back, awful positioning and so on.

Denayer at his young age is already better than Ambrose.

Van Dijk being the main reason for that, Kelvin Wilson the season before. They steadied him big time, does not take away the fact he is a liability.

I also don't think the abuse is over the top. It's not abuse either, it's just folk finally realising that he is below par and calling him out for it. For ages folk sat and defended him to the tilt, giving it the " Your just using the Juve game as a scapegoat". Lost count of the amount of times I seen someone say that in his defence on here:56:

The past few months I'm glad we (most of us) are realizing that he shouldn't be starting.

Good backup but Denayer should play when he is fit.
