Well I assumed any Celtic fan would realise it was a joke and therefore not respond to it, so you confused me a bit but no biggie :50:

Celtic did not give money to the IRA. Celtic gave money to these guys to keep them running.

    Very true.

In fact if anyone has any old match day programmes from this period they should look at the small print somewhere near the back. It’s located at the very bottom.

Here's what it says on my Celtic V Hibs programme, 1977:

"Half of our match day revenue will be donated to those pursuing freedom and justice back home, * bless and Tiocfaidh ar la"

Used to see a lot of provo stuff outside the old celtic park and 100's of tims would donate money or buy stuff for the cause.
Also Glasgow and other areas in the west of scotland had Brugades set up to help the IRA.
Celtic also had members within the club who had sympathy towards the Irish struggle.
Some can feel disgusted if they want but celtic and its support were republican and not unionist, as the years have passed the support has been diluted with people who dont have the same values as guys from the past.

I have seen pickets outside Celtic Park on at least three occasions this season (not sure if they are every week.) In support of Republican prisoners in Maghberry perhaps if you got in touch with the older members of these groups they might be able to help you.

To equal my post re celtic and the cause, the scum (dead club) had lots of pro brit * trying to raise money for the murder of innocent republicans who only wanted their country back from unionist death squads. The hunnery alway did have a problem with bigots, sad to say the new sevco club seems to have the same problem as the old dead huns.

A bit off topic but still relevant i feel.

Celtic Football Club were also responsible for the aiding and abetting in the bombing of German targets during the Second World War by switching on the grounds floodlights to guide the German bombers to their targets.

Having just found out that they were also responsible for funding the Provisional IRA during the Troubles i feel i can no longer support the club nor be part of it henceforth.

Failing that i could actually realise the stupidity of the above claims, dismiss them as a joke and maybe try and a learn a bit more about the true history of my club.:shamrock:

    And Up the Ra.

i remember as a young lad growing up in Belfast receiving an armalite rifle in the post wrapped up in an old Celtic view. I also think that maybe they sent bullets to the loyalists to be seen to be neutral. They are still sending them back.

The troubles have absolutely nothing to do with Celtic.

Celtic started the troubles, so that’s not exactly true.
