The MRI Ihad done was 35 mins on my Spine and Hips ,I know it varies from 10mins to 40mins depending on what you are getting done.

I had an MRI on my brain.....took about 20/25 mins or so.....also time will depend on whether they are intend on scanning you without a dye and then with it.

I've had a few, not my preference but the docs don't think a CT-scan every year is the way to go. Too much radiation but I prefer them to MRI's. Need to take all my piercings out which is such a pain. Had one a few weeks ago on my abdomen and groin. Took about 30 minutes. But can take longer if they can't get a decent image.

Had one done on my knee took about 15 minutes. As has been said mate depends on what you are having done. If it's the one with a dye to trace arteries etc then you can feel a bit sick but it passes very quickly.

If you are going into one of the full body scans and suffer from claustrophobia let them know before hand. They'll soon strap you down :icon_mrgreen:

Only kidding if you are nervous going into the body machine's tell them.

You'll probably get talked through it before hand, then have to get changed.

Go in for the scan which will last approx 30 minutes and that should pretty much be it.

Yeah they will tell you what happens and how long it will take....they will also ask you quite a few questions about your medical history, ask if you have any metal pins/plates etc....if you have ever had a metal shard in you....if you have a pacemaker etc....anything with metal that may be affected by it.

A lot of the time they will allow you to listen to music so you can bring along your ipod/mp3 player with you....depends on what they are scanning right enough....I wasn't allowed it but didn't have one anyway.

It is really noisy but your ears will be well protected by padding.

I had one about three weeks ago and it took about 30 minutes. I'm not claustrophobic but I could just imagine how bad it would be for some people. It's boring and you can't swallow for minutes at a time (or move a muscle) and all these awful sounds like drills from a dentist are rattling through your head constantly.

    So...

    Enjoy :84:

Chances are Mityboosh after you get the MRI scan you will be refered to an orthopedic surgeon. If he then thinks you need surgery that will be done. Usually these days if minor it will be keyhole surgery. Most likely an arthoscopy which is two nicks on the side of the knee and a camera goes in together with special tools which can clean and repair any damage.

Hope that is all you need doing as a knee replacement is much tougher and depending on age could need doing again after a few years. You might be lucky though and it's just a minor problem to fix up.
