Samaras 44 goals in 149 appearances in all competitions.
Lafferty 36 goals in 131 appearances in all competitions.

Simple maths show that Samaras has a better goal-scoring ratio than Lafferty. What is also notable is that Lafferty has never scored in 15 European appearances for the Huns whereas Samaras has scored 4 in 20 for us.

Talking about the last 2 seasons. Everyone knows Sammy used to score a fair few goals for us, not any more. It isn't rocket science.

He also plays more on the wing.

Anyway can't believe we are debating * Lafferty in a Leo Messi thread. :56::56:

He took them so he would be able to walk, he would be in a wheelchairby now otherwise.

Messi is better than Maradona and Pele in Club football, the kid wont touch the World Cup though.

Bold statement considering he'll play in at least another 2, maybe 3.

Absolutely. Even a lot of Rangers supporters can't stick the guy.

If anything I would hate him even more if he played for us, because his presence would be a constant affront.

How anyone could compare a cheating * like Lafferty to a decent big guy like Sammy is beyond me...

Same goes for Ronaldo. The guy is a * (although not on the same plane as Lafferty) and I would not want to see Barca sign him one bit. Whereas if Messi was to sign for Real (which will never happen) he would still be the best player in the world.

Argentina don't seem to have any defenders coming through from even an Under 17 level. I think this may doom Messi's generation to quarter final/semi final stage of the World Cup.

Possibly the greatest attacking talent ever available to a nation at the one time.

    Messi
    Tevez
    Higuain
    Aguero
    Di Maria
    Pastore
    Lavezzi

The list could go on and on...

I think as long as Messi continues the way he is for another 5 years then he'll probably be considered the best ever even if he doesnt win a World Cup.

The World Cup was only seen as that massive before because all the best players were at it and it was the only time usually theyd all play together but now they do it every year in the Champions League and because Maradona and Pele were two of the best and done it at World Cups and won them they are seen as the best its what seperates them from Zico and Cruyff really but nowadays Messi is seen against all the best in the world every year and is a step or three ahead every year.

Him winning a World Cup would just cement it just like if Zico or Cruyff won a World Cup they'd probably be held in the same regard as Maradona and Pele to even Platini if hed have won the World Cup.

The stats were just on Revista de La Liga there.

Messi has 21 goals in 32 games against Real Madrid, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd.

Ronaldo has 12 goals in 50 games against Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

That is mental and another reason why Ronaldo shouldn't be held in the same esteem as Messi

Best player I have seen in my lifetime. I feel privileged to be able to say I grew up watching him. The best part is we don't even know if he'* his peak yet.
