Over in Dublin for the cup, never been to a more expensive city. A pint of Guinness in a pub just across from the guinness factory was €4, it's cheaper in scotland and that's after it's been shipped and distributed. Also a pub lunch in a place 20 miles out of Dublin was €85 for 2 courses for 3 people! €85 for what would be 50 back in scotland. Just wanted to ask how does your ordinary irishman get by on an ordinary wage?.

They are on Euros and thier wage would be slightly higher in comparison to £.

    Still getting ripped of though.

4 Euros a pint is a bargain compared to what you pay in Amsterdam. Now there's an expensive city.

I suggest you never go to Norway if €4 is an expensive pint for you :) Which i agree it is. I still live in the land of a £2 pint :)

I agree with those saying Amsterdam. Holy *, the drink is extortionate over there. I remember being in a club n think it was like 9 euros a drink. They don't even do pints. It's 0.5 and 1.0 litres.
I was arguing when mine wasn't full and * barman wouldn't top it up!

Dublin would be more expensive than the rest of Ireland, 4euro a pint is very cheap for Dublin but about average in the rest of the country. (4 euro is only about £3.20) But remember 80% of people in Ireland DO NOT live in Dublin.

    Couple of points though...

    Min wage....8.65 per hr

    Unemployment benefit 188 per week..

Good link comparing where I live Sligo, with Glasgow....http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-livin...try2=United+Kingdom&city1=Sligo&city2=Glasgow

Do you find Sligo more expensive than Donegal. I know of a soft drink supplier who charge more to retail in Sligo than they do in Donegal. They cannot get the same prices in Donegal as they face competition from over the border.

For a .33l bottle of coke I would expect to pay €1 where on your link it is priced at €1.75

Yeh Sligo would be a little more expensive than the hills, but not much.

I actually sell bottles of coke, I buy 24 500ml bottles for about 18 euro and sell them on at 1.70 each (returns about 40 euro)

I would not pay €4 a pint today. This thread should be for Dublin rather than Ireland

Dublin would be like London....ie everything is much more expensive than the rest of the country. In many pubs in Dublin you can expect to be charged nearer 5 euro for your pint of porter, 4 euro is cheap.
