Whats the script with Craig Burley?

Who would you prefer done the coverage?

 

I'd take Keith Chegwin over Burley tbh

 

Anyone but a former celt, always bringing up how great it was "back in the day" and always compare our players to back then, we all know... its gettn old

he likes to criticise scottish football in general and is always very harsh on celtic, althogh he doesnt live here anymore and will rarely see any games, he still likes to have his say on scottish football

 

My mate claims he's got it on "good authority" that Burley was punted after being found to be passing on inside info from inside Parkhead to the media in order to improve his chances of getting a job within it after he retired. Regardless of that, he's an Andy Gray wannabe, which in my eyes makes him a sad *. He'd sell his granny to get what he wants and he thinks he's an authority on everything. Hate his useless co-commentary (which is often factually incorrect) and I hate the way he carries himself. Loved him as a player, but now he's just a mammoth bell-end.

 

Anyone that thinks Burley is a celtic legend needs there head checked he doesn't even come close.

Hes played off as a *, and he does spout some *.

More than anything I get the impression hes genuinely gutted from a Celtic man point of view when he makes some of his negative comments during commentary. Hes trying to appear impartial but hes sounds like he is like "come on Celtic ffs, your better than this" when he seems some of the dross we produce and whats came through the gates in recent years. Almost sounds like a defeatist Celtic fan, "hes poor" "hes *" "need to replace him etc" - only thing is hes not just another voice infront of the tele or in the stands.

 

I don't think he gets a script - that's the problem.

 

He's a pundit, its his job to be polemic. Unfortunately, there are very few professional sports journalists that give an honest and balanced account of a game.

 

I have'nt read the rest of the tread so sorry if this has already been posted but you very rarely hear many ex huns slagging of the filth in the media.

 

Burley calls it like it is imo. He knows we are pretty woefull, and he's not afraid to admit it.

 

Exactly what I was thinking of. I personally didn't think McGeady even dived, but Burley not only said he dived, but repeatedly called him a cheat. He even interupted Derrell Ray when Ray said 'dived', Burley cut across him with 'cheated'. It was the same in the Motherwell match when Maloney won that free kick in the first 10 minutes. He was also accused of being a diver and a cheat.
