Hopefully they were discussing us bringing in a couple of their players, that player Jeffren we've been linked with a few times came on for Barca last week and looked decent, pacey and tricky and we could do with a guy like that Xavi Torres who played for them aswell to replace Hartley.

They should be looking for a manager before they start looking for players

I'm sure the Barca officials were keen to discuss loan moves last night.

Should we not be getting a manager in before running the rule over players?
Sounds like a junket just to watch the CL final to me, would much rather they were working flat out to sort out the mess here tbh.

Do you think it would do us any harm by discussing bringing in a few barcelona players on loan or permanantly? I hope they did get the chance to discuss possible transfers.

They might have done over a few glasses of wine later that night.

I'm was thinking, in particular, Sylvinho, what if the new manager wants to play 3 at the back, no room for him then.

There's just no guarentee the players they MAY have been there to run the rule over would fit into any new managers plans.

And I understand it's Barca players we're talking about here, and I would take any in an instant, but I really think we need to get our priorities right here.

Irrespective of what - if anything - was discussed, it's a sign of a continuing excellent relationship between the clubs that can only stand us in good stead for the future.

Doesn't matter about if they were discussing players, even though they may have done.

Celtic will be interested in other aspects of the barca structure as well such as gaining a franchise in the USA and seeing if this could work down south for us.

Also Lawwell and Laporta are chums so that is why they would have been there.

Mas Que un Club, in both cases

If that was a goer, I'm sure that Slaven Billic in charge would seal that deal.

Think Bojan is Croatian too, but born in Spain?

With all due respect Daver, our continuing good relationship with Barca means hee haw to me right now, we have a CL qualifier in about 8-10 weeks, and i'd much rather our esteemed board were at CP trying to sort out a new manager.

    He's a Serb HT i think.

Its important we maintain a good relationship with Barca. They are one of the top clubs in the world on and off the pitch, and if we can hop on their coattails to take us a wee bit further as well - then thats what we should do.

    Oh right mate:50:.

There or there abouts, think the point is still valid - but at risk of getting slightly ahead of myself here!:icon_mrgreen:

Nice to see us having a relationship with Barca, they are the best club in the world - success by association.

Good point mate. Also liked the way you wrote that actually; raised a smile.:icon_mrgreen:

In my heart of hearts, i think the board know who they want (Coyle) and are waiting for his response. He mentioned being away this weekend "as manager of Burnley" so either he's lying, and it's announced before, or he's taking the weekend to think things through.

Either way, once the board have decided upon their target, that will be that really until such point as said target says aye or naw...a cheeky little overnighter to Rome won't be the be all and end all, although - as i say - i do see your point.

I doubt declining their offer to watch the CL final would have done much to harm relations though, I'm sure the Barca bosses would have understood we have MORE PRESSING MATTERS!!
