Slaven Bilic Claims He rejected the Sunderland job because he wants to manage Celtic. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Bilic agent has said “Slaven Wants the Celtic Job- It’s the only job he is interested in. The likes of Sunderland have been in contact but he doesn’t want that job Slaven wants to become Celtic Manager but no one at the club will return our calls”

That's a complete joke if it's true.

I said it before and i'll say it again, the board want Coyle, he spent 2.5 mill on players last season and raked in 5 mill on sales, that's math our ambitious board can get into bed with.

I'm really becoming disilussioned with the current situation tbh.

The people at our club have no ambition, the only positive job they have done is give the club healthy financial books envy of every big club on the planet.

Dunno whether to believe that or not - but if it's true - then Celtic should be ashamed of themselves. I'm not saying they should appoint him just because he wants the job - but they should at least talk to him.

Reading this made me really angry.
If the board don't call Bilic and have a conversation with him, I'm going to lose whatever respect I had left for them.
This is unacceptable.

Just wish the board would be pro-active for once , It would seem the biscuit tin mentality still prevails at paradise

Whats the big deal with this guy? he has never managed a club, he has only managed a team in 30 games, he's never signed a player and he's never even seen an SPL game. People claim Mowbray or Coyle don't have enough experince.... ahem!

Also he gets paid £50k a week managing Croatia, at club level he sat Bobo-esque at Everton getting paid £27,000 a week even though he wasn't even playing Reserve football and wouldn't leave until he got a pay-off of £500k. Is that really the type of character you'd want to risk managing us?

We should offer him £10k a week take it or leave it.

:rolleyes:Why all the uproar of slaven billic ?. The guy has no experience of club management and he certainly isnt a celtic man who knows the history of the club which was one of the reasons wgs wasnt accepted by all of our fans and the job of managing celtic needs to be taken on by somebody with a proven track record in management at club level. If we get this appointment wrong it could be potentially catastrophic if the new guy doesnt get off to a good start and the huns win the league again next year we could be playing catch up for years the board have to get this appointment right and imo billic isnt the man for the job but whoever does get the job will have to have the backing of the supporters or he will be fighting a losing battle.:50:

Everyone we are linked with are all Championship class managers. Not one of them apart from Coyle could get a job in the Premiership.

If we say we are one of the biggest clubs in the world then we should aim for a better standard of manager.

Bilic is the only one who could walk into the top leagues in the world. The guy is tipped for big things. He's excellent at making lesser players play better, excellent with the media, good tactically. Just a gamble how he handles the day to day running of things.

I think that is what people are trying to say, he's only tipped for big things as with everything else no guarantees, the risks of Bilic imo are:
-adapting to the Scottish game
-dealing with players on a daily basis
-working within tight budget
-success in the transfer market

He has had zero experience at any of that so just because he is doing good at international level does not mean he will automatically be successful at club level.

People that are being more cautious about Bilic possibly becoming our manager are merely pointing out that it's wrong to assume he would be an automatic saviour bringing success and good football instantly as that is the impression given off by those that are saying Bilic and no-one else.

IMO more than one candidate should be interviewed for this position to increase the chances of us getting the right man for the job, not someone who is cheap/"Celtic minded"/the biggest name etc as none of that really matters as long as we get the right man for the job.

The board have done well selecting our previous two managers so I'd trust them to get this one right as well and whoever is picked will get my full support.
