Thank *. Know wonder though. I work at a place that sells bru. Went from a full pallet every week to a pallet every 4 months. Coca cola now fires pallets out when it never before. Cant wait

    Edit. * it's a limited thing. Pure *.

    Buying a case though.

Aye, saw another article saying they’ve done it because sales are down. I’ve switched to Irn Bru xtra anyway as I’m trying to limit my sugar intake, so the change didn’t bother me, but I can understand that others didn’t like the reduced sugar version.

All these sweeteners in the new drinks are as bad or worse than sugar. Sugar is fine in moderation and as long as up excercise. I'll be trying this but wish they'd just bring back the real stuff at a higher price if they have to.

I love irn Bru xtra, hard to believe there is no sugar in it. Prefer it to the strong stuff too.

I have my doubts about the sweeteners too. At least sugar is a natural product. Feel like I’m drinking loads of nasty chemicals when I hear of sweeteners.
I’d rather drink the original and pay a bit extra. Obviously the price would mean I wouldn’t drink it as often. Then again, minimum pricing on alcohol has hardly stopped me drinking that...

Seriously don't taste the difference, diet Irn Bru is bogging, but don't have any problems with the current.

I drink Diet with any other drink bar Irn Bru.

Think it's just people wanting a fkn moan, like those fkn graphic geeks who can spot a pixel difference in a game, gies peace.

You telling Scottish people there is no difference in the Irn Bru? Like @Gyp Rosetti telling you there was no difference between Sinn Féin and the Provo’s. Oh wait......

    And one for the Scots.

All credible evidence I've seen says artifical sweetners are safe for consumption.

Hmm I have to wonder where the 'credible' evidence is derived from, in all honestty I wouldn't be one bit surprised if it was from the companies who manufacture the stuff themselves, similar to drug companies who stand to lose fortunes if the wrong information came out about side effects.

The reason I say this is that as a 30 year diabetic I was told at the time no more sugar ever...(gutted as that was the end of my original Irn Bru days) I was told by all and sundry at the time by the 'medical experts' anything diet or containing artificial sweeteners was all good and to use that as an alternative to sugar. These days I still exclusively take artificial sweeteners in tea or coffee, and diet ginger of any type esp as a mixer like diet pepsi etc.
However I have to say my guts are buggered now, there have been many rumours came out in the last few years about how bad artificial sweeteners actually are, Asparatin being particularly nasty, even it tests with a pile of sugar and a pile of sweetener they were amazed to find that fly's and bees totally ignored the sweetener and went only to the sugar.
What the end result was, is if you have to take things sweet, just take real sugar but very very small amounts as yes the sugar levels will rise in the blood but can be contained/balanced with insulin compared to the damage artificial sweeteners can do to the body.

This is just my personal experiences with artificial sweeteners over the last 30 years, other long term users might not have experienced any of this at all.

Ohh and yeah * i miss my real Irn Bru, I might have to indulge in a few sips when this comes out.
    Fingers crossed.

The EFSA (an independent body) reviewed 600 datasets from aspartame studies and found no reason that it wasn’t safe for consumption. It’s been cleared by food standard agencies in the UK and the US too. That’s good enough for me.
