Great pics Red, I find it very calming just watching the ducks and swans in the river, the ducks have great wee characters, what are the birds in the 3rd pic?.

Thanks, Johnie. Apparently, they are glebes, an * and a youngster. There were a couple of photographers today at "kingfisher corner". The lens on the cameras must have been a foot long. Kingfishers down on the river very regularly but I didn't see any today. :55:I find the ducks relaxing, today's ducks were very chilled.

Cheers Red, I've never seen a kingfisher in the wild but I would imagine they are a great wee bird to watch when they're fishing. maybe the photographers were pro's with the long expensive lenses needed for good close up pictures.

Johnie, I've seen a few along the Lagan and in other places in county Antrim. Great thing is that they fly along the length of the river. I have never seen one fishing though.

It's one of natures great sights, young Little Grebes. My daughter thinks they're as cute as *. I think all young Grebes look superb, especially Great Crested Grebe chicks. And it's superb to have these birds in the city at lochs, reserviors etc. Easy to see, if you looked for them.

Another cracker is the Slavonian Grebes, this cool species as you know great Friend was featured in Springwatch this year. It is always a total treat seeing them in their Summer plumage up in the Highlands.
And you are spot on about the Great Crested Grebes,I have very fond memories when I first saw them as a boy. Too brilliant local much much older birders showed me them. The same day I saw my first Grey Wagtail,BFL would have been delighted:84:

When my daughter and I first saw the Great Crested Grebe's stunning mating display/dance, we got so excited, people round about us thought we'd lost it, but we didn't care. It was a stunning spectacle.

I've got it set for public display and it appears fine for me and, going by what he says, so too for AMR.
