Everytime I question if broonys age has caught up with him he goes and puts in a great shift the following game. So am giving up on questioning his age overall. However, expecting a 34 year old to perform at this level week in week out is a big ask if anyone. Sometimes situations such as this can cloud your judgement. All he has given us over the years as been appreciated but the decline will one day set in. Given his age the decline could come very suddenly too. I just hope all of us are not blinded by loyalty to him. His dedication and discipline to his career is phenomenal. Like I said previously though. Father time comes after every athlete. No matter how good, how dedicated or fit they are. Whilst I still consider Scott brown a better cm than ntcham, I think we should keep one eye on the long term picture here. Ntcham should start getting game time from kick off with brown coming on if it's going against us. Ntcham needs to be developed and ready to slot in for when the time comes the broonys can no longer do it which will inevitably come.

I'm gonna be thirty-four in a couple of weeks, and I suffer from a sore back, a sore knee (a long-standing injury from my college days) and various other aches and pains. I don't doubt even an incredibly fit person - which I'm not - is gonna have wee niggles here and there. Broony is an amazing player, and his marauding run against Rangers shows that he still has drive and determination, but I REALLY am sceptical as to whether or not he can handle two games (or more given the current schedule) is within his powers.

He’s very, very similar to a young Scott Brown.

Nut Im no buying this that 34 is getting over the hill. Players these days are total professional athletes. 34 and maybe 2 games a week is not too much to ask for a professional athlete getting paid all those thousands a week. Im 34 and my job is hard labour. If I went in to my work and told my boss "Im 34 and I've got all the aches and pains and cant do a shift any more cause Im too old".....my gaffer would hand me my coat.

In the late 90's Lothar Mattehus was playing for Bayern Munich week in week out when he was 41. And he played in Brown's position. I remember him playing against the oldco in the Champions League and totally running the midfield in 1999 I think it was. Point is 34 is not too old when your a professional athlete and your job (which you are ridiculously well paid for) is simply to play fitba.

He will be fine for Thursday night, did not have to take a shower after that stroll in the park on Saturday.
And with RC sitting out the sheep game, would expect him to start against them also, maybe give Bitton a run in his place against St Mirren.

if he is fit enough and can keep putting in strong performances then that is all that should matter.

When an older player endures a poor spell of form, people are quick to point the finger and say that they are over the hill or past it. There comes a certain point where age becomes a taboo. Watched an interview on BT with Peter Crouch recently and he stated that he felt as if he was overlooked by managers in his latter years due to his age, despite feeling fit and that he could always score.

as long as Brown can maintain his fitness and form then he should be in the team, as with a player of any age.

I thought Mattheus played sweeper at the tail end of his career. In fact I thought he went there sooner.

Tenacious and composed tonight. Performances like that make a mockery of those that say Herr Broon is past it.
