Very well, Lee oconnor was a rock at rb, everything looks easy for him. Even when it looks like he has nowhere to go he seems to hold on to the ball and play the right pass, defended very well too .. afolabi put in a very decent 80mins. Caused all sorts of problems, held up the ball well all evening and his hold up play in the box and getting a decent cross in that led to Sweden partially clearing the ball to Parrott who's equalised. He has a physically and speed that seems to cause defenders problems.

Watching him again last night, the guy just has it all. He's a leader on probably the strongest Ireland u21 team we have ever put together. Really think the way he plays the game he is the most similar we have to Tierney as a full back in potential and what he offers. He's abrasive, passionate, relaxed on the ball, positionally very good and seems to always make the right decision. Potential to be world class

High praise @Dublin Celt, surprised that he's not been in and about the squad yet if he's performing to that level.

"O'Connor showed lovely feet in possession and looked to play the ball forward at all times. His life was made easier with Kean's red card, but he did well on the Everton man for the brief time he was in the game.

Stopped a four-on-one counter-attack for Italy with 10 minutes to go. Celtic must have a lot of good players if he isn't getting a look in."

Wouldn't be a fan of ball.ie but this is a fairly fair summary of his performance. He got 7/10, only player who got higher was Adam idah who got 8

Just so I'm not accused of unfair coverage, he gave away a penalty and got sent off for the u21s this evening. Didn't see the game but Ireland lost 1-0 to Iceland away in a game they apparently dominated. Penalty the difference

:56: Was just reading your posts about him the other night too... Then you fire this up.
He's still young, and its football these things happen.

The post was in no way critical of him. Those things certainly do happen. they were just facts (penalty/sending off) of his involvement in an u21 international

Called up to senior Irish squad for games against new Zealand and Denmark. Is suspended for u21s so hopefully he can get a senior cap v new zealand before rejoining the u21s for the Sweden game.

Think Mick has said he will make his debut vs NZ. Very impressive considering he can't make our bench.

Pleased for the youngster. I hope he does well and comes back challenging for our first team. Great to see youngsters developing.
