I'd never seen anything like it either mate, I thought it was a bit of plastic but my pal touched it and it moved. We picked it up and put it on the grass so no bikers or anything squashed it. I googled it after they folk on that page told me what it was, cos we were wondering what it'd it'd turn into. Don't think you get them here all that much.

I think they're quite rare in Glasgow mate, but even though I'm terrified of moths, it was still a great spot.

But I did just snap this in my back garden, looks like some sort of dinosaur

Haven't seen a single starling in the garden all year and then this wee guy turned up last week "to use the facilities". Hasn't been back since. No idea where he came from.

Starlings are getting rare especially in large numbers...

I remember as a child seeing huge clouds of them over Glasgow city centre at dusk. Swirling and swarming over the river. Always wAtch for it when back but not seen for years...

Apparently the swarming is called a ‘murmuration’ and used to be seen over a lot of uk cities.

Not my photo but amazingly even looks like a bird!

Yeah, he was an impressive bird and while I was really pleased to see him in the garden I wouldn't want him coming back too often in case he snacks on one of the wee regulars!

Saw a kingfisher this afternoon on the Lagan in Belfast. Such a beautiful bird. I hadn't noticed before but such a majestic flight. Was able to watch him follow course of the river. Made my afternoon.

Yes I had a Robin singing in my garden this afternoon in a fresh semi clouded sunny afternoon full of Autumn afternoon.
My favourite ever Robin was a singing Robin in a Aviemore Car Park in the evening at -6 one fine December:50:

When my mother was dying and she was at home with us she would have us up at all hours. A few times at about 2:30 in the morning we could hear the birds singing away. Went on the internet to see if there were nightingales in the area but it turned out it was a robin. Gave us all a lift with its beautiful song, was just very reassuring somehow.

Just got back from my local patch on Boxer Ruby Roo’s 2nd walk if the day and I got good views of a cracking Hobby. One of my favourite Raptors,it was a sleek fast Male *. The Swallows and House Martins were going crazy.
So far my bird of the year and it is now throwing it down, happy days. Ruby knew I was delighted at the sighting.
Going to celebrate this cool species later tonight in my local. :36:

Thanks, Johniebhoy. Really nice post. We had some fantastic late nights/early mornings with mammy eating tea and toast with the wee robin providing the background music! Good memories.
