I never sleep well on the weekend of a game against the Huns so up early this morning, pull blinds and this wee swivel-head was sitting on the birdbath looking at me. That was around 7:15, he eventually left at 9:30. I'm not sure what he is but suspect a bird of prey as he just sat there scanning the sky.

Last week at work , I saw a few Swallows swirling and darting around outside the big sheds where I imagine they nest . There were two Rooks feeding/foraging separately on the ground . One of the Swallows kept " buzzing or bombing " the Rook that was in the more exposed area . It all seemed strange behaviour to me , but was good to see .

Whilst I was sitting in my car this morning in a car park, my cay was buzzed by a Swallow. It's the first Swallow I've seen for weeks. I thought they'd all gone. Great spot though.

There's still a few around here, but I don't think they'll be around for too much longer.

Definitely. Took me a while to realise as I had never seen one that wasn't in the sky and even then I've only seen a couple over the years. I was fascinated at how calm and at ease he was. Amazing when he swivelled his head and just scanned the sky. The wee goldfinches were on the feeders and I was concerned for them. Don't know why he stayed so long and he hasn't been back.

This morning on my first seawatch for some time off the Little Orme near Llandudno 6.20-7.40am i got 5 cool Artic Skuas passing by,a lingering Little Gull and a neat passage of Gannet.
Also several flicks of Common Scoter.
I am all set for an outstanding Wildlife Autumn:36:

Been trying to upload a pic for ages but canny cos says it's too big, we found a mad caterpillar that I've never seen before on the canal path, was massive. Just on the other side of the castlebay high flats in Milton. I uploaded it to a wildlife page im on that folk from every where are on, and they say it's an Elephant Hawk Moth, saying it's a rare find lol. Yass. Saw a Kingfisher as well man, the canal is as good as anywhere.

My daughter and I were out birdwatching on the banks of the River Clyde a few years ago, and she found an Elephant Hawk Moth Caterpillar. It was fukin' massive. As she went to pick it up, it actually went for her. I've never seen anything like that in my life, a Caterpillar going for a human. I told her to put it somewhere where it would be safe. She wasn't too happy with me, and asked why. I told her it wasn't the Caterpillar I had a problem with, but it was what it would change into I had the problem with. She is still angry with me to this day about mot letting her bring it home.
