I don’t think the second part is that unpopular. A lot of people believe that.

I would gladly go back to being unemployed. As long as I had enough money to get out and about every few days.

Being on benefits is rank. Would never go back to that.

As much as I want to jump aff a bridge when my alarm goes off every morning I’d either be an alky waster and ultimately dead or mentally ill if I was off work for any length of time.

I’d have to do something, even if it was volunteering.

This was an unpopular opinion before I even read the posts in this topic.
I think people who claim job seekers allowance or whatever it is called these days should been forced to volunteer in some capacity. Plenty of charities out there where people can make a difference.

Obviously I don't think people who are incapable of working should be made to work I.e. mental illness, physical disability. But there are people who just take the * who are capable but just choose not to.

You are willing - people out there aren't. I do a job I * resent with every fibre of my being. However, it isn't my ultimate goal it's just a bit of money in my pocket. I have a PhD to get through and then get into a job I want to do. I volunteer with a mental health charity in my spare time and it is a real eye opener but crushing at the same time.

It is an unpopular opinion but I think volunteering should be compulsory in the workplace and while in benefits as it offers people a different perspective on life.

    * up. Tory talk.

Those ‘charities’ are pretty much billion pound corporations who pay directors million of pounds a year.
They are a sham and having a shop on the high street selling tat and forcing the unemployed to flog said tat is no worse than working unpaid in Poundland or Sports Direct because you’ll lose your benefits.

If you’ve worked all your * life and end up in the unfortunate position of being unemployed then why should you have to go through the indignity of being forced into slave labour?
That’s why we pay our NI.

Any * who is fine with turning poor people into slaves should do us all a favour.

Ah right I see. So you are ok with people who are healthy to spend their entire * lives doing nothing but claim money off the government as acceptable?

I wasn't directing the idea at those who worked and found themselves in the unfortunate position where they can't work - think I made that clear in a previous post. Like you have said they have contributed and they should be helped out when they fall on hard times. But why should people who just take, take and * take all the time be allowed to get it so handy?

I have also said that volunteering should be a part of society as a whole - working or in a non working capacity. Volunteering doesn't mean you have to work for charities - it can be done anywhere.

Who decides who is unfortunate and who is abusing the system?

Is there a time frame between losing employment and finding new employment before you are put to slave labour?

When people get dole money the spend it and contribute to the economy.

You want to look at where tax money is misspent, then look at the war industry or better still the repayment of national debt to bail out a broken corrupt banking system.

That would require some work. The Tories seem to have * that up royally over the past few years.

Although I think introducing volunteering is a good idea. I would not expect individuals to full time hours or even hours commensurate with what they receive - doing 3-5hrs a week would surely not be too much to ask.

Why should somebody be forced to work for 150 quid a fortnight when somebody beside them is doing that job and making double that a week? Also, just because people are unemployed it doesn’t make them bums that are sponging off everycunt else. Could be a million reasons they don’t work.

And * the government, take them for everything you can get off them :50:

Money is being misspent and mismanaged all throughout society. Greedy multinational corporations, NHS, Government, financial institutions - you name it they're misspending it.
