How bolloxed does he look in that interview? Take it we put him through the 'make sure it's not another Turnbull incident' medical! :56:

In fairness, I know nothing about the hun history folk are saying, but he definitely seems well chuffed to be here

One of my most favourite Celts Wee Jackie if he is half the player he was then we will be fine.

I remember when Jackie first signed and someone broke into his car and stole his boots, I’m sure they done appeal and he got them back.

JACKIE McNAMARA was the poster Bhoy for his Celtic generation.

Now Greg Taylor hopes he emulate his agent and mentor by joining the list of Hoops greats.

McNamara gave the former Kilmarnock left-back a guided tour of Parkhead as he sealed a £2.2million deadline-day move.

The former Celtic skipper's image adorns the side of the stadium - alongside dozens of legends of the past.

Taylor thanked McNamara for getting his dream move over the line and now wants to follow in his footsteps.

He said: "Jackie has been massive for me, especially throughout all of this.

"He went through himself and left Dunfermline at a similar age to come to Celtic.

"He understood what I was going through and he was a good person to have.

"I have the perfect mentor in Jackie. He has played in a lot of big games in his career.

"If I can listen to him it will stand me in good stead.

"He showed me the picture of himself that surrounds the stadium - he is not daft, is he?

"He was showing me where he lifted the trophies too.

"Jackie showed what you can achieve - absolutely. It is about taking your opportunity when you get it.

"That is what I have tried to do all my career and thankfully when I got the chance to break into the Kilmarnock first-team I took it.

"Then again when I got into Scotland. I am just looking for another opportunity. It is a massive, massive club."

At one stage over the weekend, it looked like Taylor could be handed an Old Firm debut.

But the Scotland full-back had to settle for Sky Sports and a cuppa as he waited patiently on Sunday.

He said: "I sat on the couch with a cup of tea watching the game.

"There certainly wasn't as much pressure on me as the boys who were playing.

"But they were outstanding. It was great from start to finish - and a great win.

"Did I think I could be playing in it at one point? You never know in football. Anything can happen.

    "I couldn't think of myself as a Celtic player, because I wasn't.

"I was still checking my phone! I was wanting them to go and get a result and they did that.

"I was just hoping that the deal could get done, but I missed it by a day.

"People were saying I might be able to play but I was just focused on getting it done.

Taylor has been signed as a replacement for £25m Arsenal man Kieran Tierney.

But he wants to be his own man and has no fears about stepping into his shoes.

He said: "Kieran achieved great things for this massive club and he’s away to another big club to hopefully do great things again.

"The fans are very grateful for what Kieran achieved at Celtic and I’m sure Arsenal fans will be grateful for what he does in the future.

"As long as I’m performing on a Saturday I’m sure they’ll take to myself.

“Thankfully now, an opportunity has presented itself and all I can do is my best.

"It’s not about comparisons - it’s just up to me to impress the manager and the fans.

“Competition improves every player and there’s other players here. I’m not daft enough to think I’m walking into a jersey.

“It’s up to me to earn the right to get that jersey and I hope to do that.

"This move can help me raise my level and hopefully that helps on the international scene as well.

"You have to have that self-belief. I do have it. You have got to.

"At a team like Celtic where you are expected to win every week there is more pressure. I understand that."

Taylor was released by Rangers as a kid for being too small in 2014 - but insists that hasn't been his career motivation.

He said: "In football there are lots of ups and downs, it’s just part of the game.

"There are going to be more in my career to go but I’m at Celtic now and I just have to grasp the opportunity I have and I can’t wait.

"I have a lot of belief in myself and Kilmarnock gave me a great chance.

"My motivation was to get in the first team there and I managed to do that at 18 and touch wood haven’t missed many games since.

"And now I have this great opportunity to play for a great club like Celtic."
