CELTIC will target Fraser Forster for an emotional return to Paradise after losing crocked Scott Bain.

SunSport understands Neil Lennon, who is also keen on Bournemouth’s Jordon Ibe, will inquire about a reunion with ex-Hoops No1 Forster who is out of favour at Southampton.

Bain will be out for two months after picking up a hand injury in the shock 4-3 defeat to Cluj on Tuesday night which dumped Celts out of the Champions League.

It’s understood Bain, 27, has damaged a ligament in his hand.

He will undergo specialist tests in England to determine the length of his absence. If Celts’ worst fears are confirmed, Bain could be out until October.

Craig Gordon is set to start Saturday's Betfred Cup tie against Dunfermline.

But Lennon is in the market for a keeper before the transfer window closes on September 2 and Forster is on his radar.

Forster, 31, enjoyed enormous success under Lennon, and played over 100 games for Celts before his £10million move to Saints five years ago.

He won six England caps and impressed in the Premier League, but is now behind Angus Gunn and Alex McCarthy at St Mary’s.

Bournemouth winger Ibe is also wanted by Celtic on loan.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is weighing up whether to allow Ibe to leave, as there are concerns over new signing Arnaut Danjuma’s foot injury.

Ibe has also attracted interest from abroad, but could be needed for cover as Danjuma has aggravated a problem that ruled him out for four months last season.

Howe has Harry Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Ibe as wide options, as Danjuma has joined David Brooks and Junior Stanislas in the treatment room.

Ibe was on the bench last weekend against Sheffield United and Howe has been considering loaning him out.

Italian clubs Napoli and Fiorentina have enquired about the former Liverpool kid, while La Liga outfit Espanyol have also shown interest.

Turkish giants Galatasaray have also tracked Ibe, 23, but it’s believed he would rather stay in the UK.

Meanwhile, Celts will face AIK Stockholm in the Europa League play-off round.

The Swedes KO’d Sheriff Tiraspol of Moldova.

The first leg is in Glasgow next Thursday

Don't want him back, but maybe Woods can do something with him. He's worked wonders on Gordon, Bain and Forster before, who knows..

It's a no from me mate..

If we're gonna bring a keeper in, then we need one who is fit, confident and playing a fair bit..

We've already got 2 keeper's that aren't at their most confident..

4 great seasons at parkhead. 3 and a half great seasons at Southampton, including 6 caps for England.

He made 2/3 mistakes and had 1/2 injuries and hasn't had a look in since.

He's only just turned 31. No reason why we couldn't take him on a loan with an option to buy. We've gotten 5 great seasons out of Craig Gordon who was 31 when we signed him with no confidence

Dont know tbh. Undoubtedly a better keeper than Bain and Gordon but this isnt the time to get his confidence back up.

    Lazy scouting/journalism if anything

Saw him quite a few times the season before last and he was at fault for quite a few goals. Looked even slower than he used to be and still poor with the ball at his feet.

There's a reason he was 3rd choice for Southampton last season, only a couple of years after being near the England squad. Injuries have halted him.

He conceded less goals that season than he did the season before that? Even allowing for the less games on a pro rota basis.

Doesn't really mean a whole lot though, does it? Maybe he was playing behind a more organised defence in that season?

I'm basing it off what I saw. He looked ropey and clearly the managers since then are seeing the same thing, given he's out of the picture now.

He was phenomenal with us and had a great first couple of seasons down south, but he's now 3rd choice at a mid-bottom table team. That's not out of bad luck. He's regressed.

Vorm and FF make Craig Gordon look like Xavi with the ball.
