Is the wage structure weakening the club?

Its well known that the club has a set wage structure with the top earners earning about 30K a week. As the prices of players and wages are booming, our club seems to be stuck using some out dated system which leaves us with a much more limited pool of players that we can choose from. We are selling world class players but can't reinvest in any because they don't fit into model, and this is stagnating the club. We have not progressed as much as we should have and it is so frustrating for us the fans. I think we play it way to safe and therefore never really improve. If we want to start bringing in a higher quality player we have to ditch this wage structure, or at least update it because we are being left behind.

£13m off wage bill per season from last year already going by the estimated wages of the 14 departed players.

Our contracts are heavily bonus made up.

You should see a change come the year end financials as it won’t be £60m for 2018/19 as we didn’t make the UCL group stages and Rodgers and his team left in February taking £120k a week off wage bill for March to June.

No * wonder the board won’t reinvest the £40m surplus from player trading in the squad Lennon said himself “he hopes” he gets some of the KT money!

Our wage bill is ridiculously high for what income we get.

We seriously need to lose bodies still for me.

We should be depending more on youth, maybe a few utility players that can cover positions.

If Sinclair goes, we don't need another wideman. I'd lose Ntcham and Bitton (maybe keep him for defence but prefer a CB bought and more mobile and stronger DM), Hendry and I'm now debating Bayo as that's turning into a disgrace, bring in a striker.

That sounds like a nightmare scenario for me, we are already so light in most departments, we need to bring in more players not lose more. I would keep all those players you mentioned except Hendry.

Did you hear that interview? That response was clearly meant to be a quip.

A self-imposed limitation like that can only hold us back.

I'd argue that most of the current squad are overpaid, relative to what comparable players get on the continent.

Can't let a silly little thing like context get in the way of being raging.

Grand old team to play for
I honestly think having a rigid wage structure is holding us back. Why miss out on quality signings because they don't quite fit it. Negotiate hard and drive a good deal, but allow yourself room to manoeuvre and have a bit of flexibility. Genuinely think it's time for Lawwell to move aside and let someone younger with new ideas take over.
