Tierney can say whatever he wants, whenever he wants. If he wished to stick a post on social media saying he's staying, or looking forward to the season ahead, he could.

The silence is because the clubs are still negotiating, he is 100% considering Arsenal as it wouldn't have got to this stage if he wasn't interested at all. He will not want to pledge his future publicly to us and then do a u-turn.

    * instalments.

A billion quid, top EPL club should not be let off with trying to steal a prized asset for under our valuation never mind a heavily instalment based offer.

If the original offer that was posted on here was correct, it wouldn’t have been instalments that were the issue. So much of the overall fee was based on ridiculous milestones for both Tierney and Arsenal.

Thinks like Tierney making 50 appearances, getting 15 assists, Arsenal qualifying for the CL etc. Mainly things that aren’t likely to actually happen.

I believe KT is keeping quiet out of respect for the Club. Plus it just seems to suit his character, he's not one for getting involved in anything remotely disrespectful to Celtic, especially not on social media.

It would be the Club's business to release a statement of intent.

For that to happen both parties would have to agree on the same direction so it could just as easily be the Club saying to KT we're going to advise you to accept the offer if we get a good price.

KT will know it can get very awkward for a player if he's seen to be acting against the best interests of the Club. Even though we know that wouldn't be true.

It is-Chelsea were caught doing this, for example. Had a transfer embargo imposed on them.

It's in the best interests of the club as a footballing entity to keep the best left back it has. The only reason this transfer interest persists is that Lawwell is willing to sell a player he shouldn't.

Think it's clear the decision will be KT's, mate.

Also, I feel OK with that TBH. If he wants to stay, we all want him to (not least me!); but if he wants to go, personally I think we should let him, take the money and reinvest it.

So from my point of view, what will happen is exactly what should happen either way. I hope he chooses to stay.

Will it definitely be KT's? Moussa had to force a move through social media, Boyata threw a strop and we still didn't let him move.

If we were a normal club i doubt fans would be so upset about all this.
Yes we would all be sad to see him go as he is one of us but what really * me and im sure most of us off is we will sell him for 25m+ and be lucky to replace him with a 2,3,4,5m player.
The gab between money made and money spent is just to big imo.

Starting to get * of with this now, either buy him for the right price with no bullshit,or leave us and him alone to get on with our own work.

Thought this would have been worked out by the end all last week.

I dont want him to go,but if the money is 25 million outright (or more) get it done and let us move on to buying in players, another dragged out saga by all involved.

The transfer is as dead as King Arthur. No 3. bid has been sent.

He won't be forced out the door against his will, mate. The backlash on the board for selling him against his will would be very serious. He's one of us and he's idolised. Lawwell would literally need to go around with a minder.

Equally, it's clear we're willing to sell him if he wants to go.

Players hold all the power these days. If he stays it's cause he wanted to stay, and if he goes it's cause he wanted to go.

exactly Lawwell basically pushed Mcgeady into moving to Spartak Moscow.
He will be hoping Tierney leaves if they bid the right money.
I just hope it's not similar to Dembele leaving on the last day, giving the board an excuse for not spending more this window.
Hard to replace people on the last day etc, etc.

Boyata wanted to go last year, the club wouldn’t let him.

Is it not the case that McGeady (although he wanted to stay) had personal reasons for needing that signing on fee? I seem to remember that anyway.

Boyata is the exception that proves the rule. Technically a club still owns a player's registration; but the point in saying players have all the power is that they have all the best cards and clubs can't make them do anything without hurting themselves a lot more than they might benefit. The whole Boyata saga illustrates perfectly the folly of forcing players to stay.

Looked at in the cold light of day, Boyata absolutely won that battle hands down. On his side, he was forced to leave Celtic a year later than he would have preferred. This is hardly the bitterest pill he will have to swallow in his life and I'm sure the signing on fee he must have got as a free agent will have cushioned the blow for him. On our side, we lost a £9 million fee and (by not playing against AEK), Boyata arguably deprived us of the CL money too.

This (trying to force players to stay in the current climate) is not an experiment I'd like to see us repeat.

Edit: this quite apart from the fact that I think it's morally wrong in any climate.
