Ajer had the 2nd highest % of headers won against opponents in the SPFL a few years back (I believe Bruno Alves was the top). Since then I'd say he's become even more dominant in the air but I don't have the exact stats.

Ajer has a touch of Bobo about him when it's a long, lingering ball put up by the opposition keeper or full back, he starts taking long strides and is focused solely on that ball regardless of what is in his way.

Bitton is nowhere near as good in the air, for a guy as tall as he is he was dominated in the air reasonably often at CM. He has his plus points but for me he is not suited to our style or the demands of our league. He's done a job at CB for us but that's all it is, we need better than him.

He should be kept. Loves it here, can fill in at both centre half and centre mid and is happy doing so.

Similar to Hayes - squads can't be full of guys you think should be starting every week.

He has been injury-free since the turn of the year.

He is no longer even considered for his natural position, nor has he adapted to his new position and challenged for a starting spot, like Ajer. Is he even an option from the bench?

He has no shortage of talent: unlike some other players, he is good enough to play for Celtic on a regular basis when he is at his best. He looked every inch an £8m player at one point. He should, at least, be in the conversation when our midfielders are injured, or out of form, or tired.

I get the impression - I may be wrong - that he is content to play the odd game here and there. I find that disappointing.

Perhaps, he will confound my expectations this season.

He was playing in his natural position come the end of the season. Playing 6 out of 7 games in the midfield.

I think he’s a good utility player to have. And “he knows the city”.
When you think of the amount of games we need to play per season all it takes is s few injuries to key players or 1 or 2 suspensions and we’d need a body like him. So don’t see the need to get rid at the mo.
A few have already commented that no every player is a starter week in week out. Bitton knows this and is quite happy, but isn’t * and moanin about lack of game time.
    Keep.

Big improvement on Boyata at the back as he is a proper footballer. Not great for defending however but decent back-up for against the Hamiltons, Livingston away etc as in Joso can't play on those surfaces. Ajer and the 7 million man should be the automatic choices though of course.

How can a CB be an improvement on another when they can't defend as well..:56:

A big improvement on Boyata because he can play on plastic pitches and Jozo can’t.

He played one game in the league after the split, against Hearts in a nothing game; he only made the squad twice.

Before that, he made three starts in the Scottish Premiership - when first Brown, McGregor and Ntcham, and then Christie, McGregor and Ntcham were injured - and three substitute appearances.

He played three times in the Scottish Cup: 8 minutes against Airdrieonians; 90 minutes against Hibernian; 1 minute against Hearts.

Do you use a generator that just chucks random statements together?

Bitton is in no way an improvement on Boyata.

I totally agree. Biton is like Hayes not a starter for me. But we play 60+ games a season so we need decent players who can come in and play games and Biton and Hayes can both do a solid job for us be it in midfield or at the back so for me they are good players to have in our squad.

Let me qualify my statement then: he is never considered for his natural position if any of our senior midfielders are available. You are splitting hairs.

I like him but the wages he's on just to be a squad filler who doesn't really do anything of significance doesn't sit well with me if he isn't gonna feature or influence games as much then move on

Nah, I genuinely thought you meant that we don’t consider him a midfielder anymore when ever since Neil’s been here (and his press conference the other day) tends to point towards the fact that we know he can play midfield :56:

    Misunderstanding there :50:

I doubt that he is a high earner, but he must be on a decent amount. He was a mainstay in the team when we renewed his contract.
