Don't get me wrong I am not defending Neville in any way. The guy is a typical arrogant English *. I am just saying in a general sense if you asked pros if they like the idea of playing a third placed game most would say no.

Agreed Neville sounded like the bitter English * he is. I am just making a general observation about third placed games and that if you asked most pros would say no thanks to playing them.

Well, I enjoyed a few of the matches I watched. Women’s game has improved a lot since I first saw it years ago.

Really enjoyed the tournament. Standard of football was good throughout.

Funny seeing so many sexist * trying to constantly convince themselves and others that it’s *.

Seen someone say they’re glad it’s over. Bad news for you pal, women’s football will continue to grow and receive coverage. :giggle1:

It will receive more coverage, doesn’t mean a lot though.
I’m sure I saw the average attendance at this years WC was lower than the previous 2, might be a reason for that. Even though the last one was in the football hotbed of Canada.
Also they were shouting out not many tickets left for games & 20 games were fully sold out, then retracted it to 14 & tickets were readily available.

Low attendance figures in a lot of matches yeah, but TV viewing figures broke records in several countries, close to double the amount of countries showing matches, compared to the last World Cup. There has definitely been a surge of interest, at least in this country.

It’s not going to get close to the men’s game any time soon, but it’s going to continue to grow, which was my point.

When I was in the states back in the day, 90-94 in particular, women’s football was massive then and is the one of the largest participated sports over there.

This has been reflected in their dominance in the last three decades.

Women’s football will continue to grow as it is given more air time as the television companies and media finally realise that half of their audience are women and it’s not all just for the lads.

The most refreshing aspect of the coverage are the erudite, knowledgeable and well spoken female pundits compared to the thick as pig * “ehhhh erm um ehhhh” male pundits.

Now if we could let it evolve naturally without it being so right on. Let the game and coverage gain its natural growth without it bordering on patronising.

“Didn’t they do well?” and all that *.

Over time the quality on the park will need to rise, the standard is poor, the decision making is awful, really awful, but then again some people actually pay to watch Hamilton Accies play.

Let’s see where we are in another four years.

(PS my tongue in cheek comments previously were exactly that - tongue in cheek)
