I thought that at the time.
Players on that list were made fully aware our intent, so could probably make more contractual demands if approached.
Other clubs are made aware of our interest and decided to check out our targets making it harder for us as the players get more offers.
Clubs who had these players under contract might not be too happy to have this out in the public domain.
Also, these clubs might play hardball with fees now they know we're interested.

That's not to mention what it does for our own players morale to be seen on this list, Gordon, Hayes and Bitton for example. I believe it could be what Lustig alluded too and why Ntcham has fueled transfer speculation.

I used to think we were so well run & our transfer business was so well managed, it was kept brilliantly quiet. Now I just think its quiet as there is no activity of note and we are operating with a reactive nature to situations rather than proactively.

The guy is a legend. Can totally understand why the club appointed him as a summer temp.

In fairness am doing my best to find positives here. But if you recruit someone for a summer job and the primary aim is to find players then surely he and club have a clear vision of what's to come. This Hammond knows he is on trial and he has short amount of time to impress. He wouldn't accept the job if we offered him a trial with £0 or next too, in order to get the job done.

We also know the what's at stake here. 9 and hopefully 10+ in a row. Now is the time to make a move and bolster our efforts. A director of football certainly seems to indicate we are trying something new, if it's a new project then back it 100%. No point in going in a different direction half heartedly.

We all pished ourselves with excitement when congerton came in and look what an abortion that turned out to be. Here most folk seem to be slating this Hammond before he has even identified a target, give him a chance beforebwe write him off.

As tight as our board can be, I refuse to believe they cannot see we need new blood in. This move signal the boards recognition of just that....

And then be told that ‘we tried a different way’ when Lawwell decides to appoint one of his own guys from within...

Mate am far from a defender of lawell but let's be honest. This is trying something new. I'd imagine the board has looked at this window and realised they needed someone that could identify targets for Lennon. They have acted. Wish it was sooner than the 1st of July but hopefully this Hammond comes in with a long list of targets.

All this doom and gloom from everyone honestly, let try and be positive about what maybe a positive change. One thing is for sure, we are slow out the blocks in terms of signings. Hopefully we will see some needed movement in the coming weeks

Strange as it is that he is here for the summer. Maybe he is on trial. Or maybe its the other way round. Is he the one calling the shots ? Has he put himself on trial to see if he can work with Lawell? Or is this Desmond acting, getting Lawell away from recruiting? Strange but just sign some feckin quality footballers ffs !!

Haha, absolute clueless, fkn summer camp we've turned into.

If Rangers don't win the league this year we'll do 500 in a row.

We’ve had a problem with recruitment for years. We refused to do anything about it incase it upset Rodgers.

Even he * off 4/5 months ago so apologies that people aren’t positive that we’ve employed some 2 weeks into the transfer window, not even mentioning the fact he doesn’t start for another fortnight.

Already pointed out it's a shame we have to wait 10 days until he gets going. Isn't the whole point of the appointment to get players through the door!?

Either way you look at it as a club we are acting on it (granted a lot later than we would like). But the wheels are in motion to get players through the door. Back it, get behind it ffs. Like I say, we are appointing someone to get the business we all want done. It's time for optimism not a time to whinge like *

The state of the squad Rodgers left was more what I was meaning. It’s so disjointed when you look at the number of midfielders we have in comparison to the number of defenders we have.

As you alluded to, the board should have had a plan in place for Rodgers departure a lot sooner.

I’d much prefer we hired a top talent spotter from Croatia, France, Italy etc as opposed to someone whose only experience seems to be Reading and West Brom, two small clubs with literally nothing in common with Celtic.

Also quite ridiculous he’s a temporary addition yet won’t even begin until July - we could feasibly be caught cold and knocked out of Europe before this guy even recommends a single player!
