Do you know that monkeys typing at a keyboard is an old metaphor for disorder and randomness that goes back decades and as far as I know has nothing to do with race? For example explanations of natural selection often start by asking how long it would take monkeys hacking away at a keyboard to type the complete works of Shakespeare (i.e. an analogy for random mutation with no selection process operating). The answer is many times the age of the universe FWIW.

The point is that monkeys are smart enough to hit the keys and produce an output but not smart enough to have a clue what they are typing. AFAIK it has nothing to do with 19th and early 20th century racial theories.

It's fun to get up on your high horse (I'm ashamed to admit I also indulge at times, which at my age is dumb as **); but at any rate in this case you probably owe martibhoy an apology for implying he is a racist.

    * edit: to some extent I am doing it myself in that last paragraph. What a muppet. :giggle1:

This may sound mad but I wouldn't mind seeing Eddie have a blinder of a season and get a £25m move away next summer.

Hope he goes on and continues to do it in the next rounds now. Last year he looked a world beater vs Alashkert. Then went missing vs Rosenborg and Athens.

    I thought so too...

Saw someone in the match thread refer to him as a “lazy streak of French *” which I couldn’t quite grasp as it was at about 20 mins into the game.

Maybe it’s his slightly nonchalant demeanour but he does get the goals when it matters!
