Need to give him time and not expect too much too soon..

It may be a shock for him to have 11 defenders to beat and then not getting fouls when fouled..

In my opinion he is exactly the type of player we need. How often have we lacked creativity against teams that have 11 men behind the ball? He has this ability to go past defenders and score goals out of nothing.
Furthermore I think his pace could be very useful in those difficult European games, where we have to focus on counter attacks.

Wont get the time and space on the ball he's used to. Will need time to adapt to that

True but anywhere 30 yards out this wee guy will ping them in. Great weapon to have against packed defences.

Looks a goalscorer , would still like another wide left player to challenge Sinclair though.

Arzani should be back from injury and hopefully give Sinclair the impetus to get back to his first season form

Really glad this lad is here, he is the sort of player we need to go for the 9 and 10.

I am fully convinced that this guy is going to be absolutely brilliant for us, based on absolutely * all!

By the same token, I am convinced Bayo will be a flop, based on absolutely * all!

If it’s down to them * he will end up getting a 3 match ban then.

This is why he might not be able to play the first SPL game.

The excitement is palpable among Celtic fans as Ukranian international Maryan Shved will soon join up with his new teammates in the coming weeks to begin his career with Neil Lennon's side.

The 21-year-old right winger, who was once on the books at Sevilla, comes to Scotland with a solid reputation thanks to his performances for Karpaty Lviv, which earned him his first start with his national team back in November last year.

And with that in mind, we sought the expert opinion of Kyiv born Chicago based football journalist Vadim Furmanov, to find out more about what to expect from Shved in the Hoops jersey:

How do you think Maryan will adapt to Scottish football?

"It's difficult to say. I hope it won't be such a difficult transition period, but he already had a spell abroad at Sevilla during which he failed to settle, although he suffered an injury and he moved at a very young age.

"I hope the experience in Spain has made him better prepared for moving to a European league. Hopefully he can settle in quickly, though I do think it will take him a bit of time to get acclimated to the league."

    What are his best attributes?

Pace, technique, a very powerful left foot. Dynamism on the left flank, though I believe he can also play through the middle.

"He's played False 9 before at Karpaty but I'd love to see him in an attacking midfield position behind the strikers. Wherever he plays, he's certain to offer speed and technical ability."

Do you believe Celtic have done good business to bring him to the club?

"A bit early to say, but I think for the relatively cheap fee, his age and potential, this is good business from Celtic."

There have been comparisons made between Shved and Robben, are these valid comparisons?

"I'm pretty sure I'm the 'source' of these comparisons - it was mainly tongue-in-cheek.

"When Shved plays on the right there's a similarity in their play style in that Shved is also left footed and cuts inside often, but that's the extent of the comparison. There's no way he's anywhere as good, and I doubt his ceiling is that high.

Will people in Ukraine be proud to see him in a Celtic jersey?

"Some journalists have actually questioned the decision to move to the Scottish league. This was not a dig against Celtic by any means, but more in the sense that his style of play is better suited for a less physical, more technical league like the Eredivisie or the Bundesliga.

"Having said that, he moved to Celtic, the best Scottish club, not a mid-table side. I think if Celtic can get back on their feet in Europe and Shved becomes an important player in the side, then there will be plenty of pride.

"I think he can excel at a team like Celtic and possibly go on to play at a mid-tier team in one of the bigger leagues, but it's still early to say what his ceiling is."

Low ceiling potential, may find it difficult to adjust abroad, style of the league won't suit him :50:

    * that, hopefully he's good.

Rarely played on the left flank, would be ideal if he did.

That would also be ideal if he was to challenge Rogic.

I see us playing him ST though.
