Same as Ntcham, in the first half they were both playing at half pace but the second half they were far better. The tactics obviously played a part, as we pressed the game more in the second half.

Both played well. Initially thought they would be a nightmare pairing in there tbh because they both like to be ball players and do things at their own pace.

He kept winning the ball back with they big stupid legs of his.

Always wondered why he never used them more when he was playing regularly.

Nir Bitton insists he wants to stay at Celtic and help Neil Lennon's treble Treble-winning side side to more glory next season.

The Israeli international is one of the Hoops' longest-serving players, having now been at Parkhead for almost six years.

He's won an impressive trophy haul of 12 winners medals in that time, but has been only a squad player recently - having made just four Premiership starts in a season disrupted by injuries.

The 27-year-old has a year left of his contract at Celtic and is determined to prove he can make an impact under new boss Lennon again.

Bitton said: "I still have a contract at Celtic so I am staying. I haven't spoken to any other clubs.

"As long as I am under contract and Celtic believes in me, I will stay.

"I will do everything I can to return the faith and the investment Celtic have made in in me. Leaving is not an option "

Bitton is currently on international duty with Israel due to play Euro 2020

qualifiers against Latvia and Poland this month.

And he's delighted to be back in the international fold after a previous bust-up with former manager Elisha Levy two years ago which led to an exile from Israel.

He said: "What happened in the previous campaign is not relevant, I had nothing particularly against Elisha.

"It was a situation that was blown out of proportion and ended after a conversation between us.

"The current manager, Andreas Herzog has been in contract with me for a long time.

"Even when I was injured at Celtic, he remained in touch.

"He sees me as a holding midfielder and that's fine because I have played that position at Celtic too.

When I arrived at the camp this week, he and the players applauded me because of the treble I had just won at Celtic, so that was a nice touch too!

"He gives me plenty of confidence and I want to reward him by helping to get six points against Latvia and Poland."

This guy has been happy to collect a wage and sit on the bench for too long..

I know people will say he's decent backup and good around the dressing room but he isn't good enough to be a first team player here and is on about 15 grand a week. Too slow, isn't a centre half and he we've got 5 or 6 I'd rather see in instead of him....plus linked with numerous other centre mids..

We should be actively looking to move him on, but like many other's...he's happy to sit and collect a wage doing the bare minimum..

If he wasn't on such a high wage I'd be more than happy with keeping him

He won’t leave until the end of his contract, he’s said it plenty of times himself.

Which is the kinda mentality we need rid of..

If he doesn't get a game, he won't give a * in my opinion and will happily just sit on his 15 odd grand a week till next summer. The squad is over bloated with high earners who don't contribute much as it is..

Yeah I agree. Sadly there’s always a chance of ending up with players happy to sit on a wage. We’ve had a fair few in my life time.

No mate was pretty much a full year.

I agree, of course he wants to stay here. He's on a fantastic wage to sit on the bench or in the stands.
We need to get rid of the high earners that bring nothing to the first team.

What kind of wages is he on? Surely can’t be that high?

He loves Celtic, he is solid whenever called upon, he can play in defence or midfield, and apparently he’s a good influence in the dressing room. Can think of many more reasons to keep him than ship him, Brendan simply didn’t fancy him.

I can see him getting much more game time under Lennon

Ah my bad. I remember he was out but didn't realise it was that long mate. You can tell I missed him :fear:

For the rebuild though, he and many other's should go..

Question i would ask any poster's who want him to stay, is would the player be missed?

Can't remember but sure it was over 15..

He was offered a 5 year deal after he hit a good bit of form but that was ages ago..

I agree, would have Ntcham starting before him all day.

Not once did we ever see "we need Bitton back" the whole year he was out. Says alot.

Quality wise it's a no brainer..

I still think Ntcham will be off and doesn't want to be here but he's just simply much better than Bitton..

    Nope. Not once bud..

Harsh when he’s been injured for 18 months that :56:

Before that he was part of the team, in and out, was a major reason for us qualifying for the Champions League before his injury and when he came back he stepped in well at an important stage of the season.

‘Happy to sit and collect a wage’ is the last thing I’d accuse him of, his attitude has been exceptional.
