We have now one of the biggest pre seasons we've had in some time.
If there is to be a fair amount of new players to come in, and I stress the word IF, they have to get used to Lennon's way of playing, new system etc so imo we can forget champions league, possibly even europa league, because I think we'll struggle.
He has a HUGE job on his hands here.

Lets be honest the board know that with Lenny they have a guy who is just grateful for the opportunity and he isn't likely to raise complaints regarding transfer funds or rock the boat like Rodgers did, they know they can control him to an extent that they can't with a manager like Rodgers. ( I love lenny btw) They know that fans are going to back him because he's a legend of the club so there is less chance of a backlash and that's why they've announced it now but this is also the same board who offered Ronny, Owen Coyle and Keane the job in the past and * knows who else, can we really trust them to make the right decision regarding this football club? Obviously gotta back him 100% but this is maddening it really is.

No top quality manager's want to come to Scottish football, simple as. Rodgers was a one off fluke.

Rathen Lennon than Moyes at least.

Total buzz kill from Celtic announcing that Lenny has been offered the job.

Would not have been alot of fans pick and I fear some nerve shredding times ahead. * * loads of money better be spent in the the next couple of windows or say goodbye to 9 never mind 10 in a row. Disappointed by Lawwell that the ambition shown wen appointing fraudgers has not been repeated.

This is Lawwell all the way. The difference in the faces of Lawwell and Desmond at FT tells a story I would really like to hear. Rumour has it Desmond wanted Moyes.

That's the thing, mate. I'm genuinely worried here and I wanted Lenny. If this isn't just a cheap option and we plan to back him in the summer, why announce it in such a sly way showing utter contempt for the fans?

I also worry for Lenny that he's being hung out to dry by Lawwell here. The current team doesn't have the players to play Lenny's way, if they appoint him and don't back him, they are setting him up to fail.

For the first time ever, I find myself wanting Lawwell out.

    Well.

Pros: Steady hands, knows the club inside out. No start up time, can get hit the ground running. Excellent scouting record. Pound for pound far better in Europe than Rodgers. He has just technically won a treble treble.

    Cons:
No ambition from board. Cheap option, same old same old. Players have been utterly * for 99% of the last 3 months, Lennon oversaw zero "bounce" whatsoever. I think a pushover in terms of the board will give him 5 mill to play with and he won't dare kick up a stink.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned but Lennon wasn’t my first choice.

    However

I think it’s worth remembering he was manager when we brought van dijk, wanyama, Forster , hopper etc and beat barca

    Not bad I’d say

Absolutely - we were * today but got out of jail. I thought it was a great way for Lennon to bow out - with a treble treble (even though the football under him has been *).

Well done to our board - for me (and I think for a lot of our fans) - they have ruined one of the greatest days in our history - not just by what they have done but the way they have done it.

I have to be honest - based on the last 3 months - I really fear for next season. I wonder if he will bring in Parker and we can go back the whole 5 years.

The Hun sites are lapping this news up and frankly I can understand why.

People seem to forget we put some utterly dire performances in before BR left. Lennon inherited a team that know how to win but have underperformed for a long time now. Lennon knows how to spot a good player. I'm confident he'll bring in some good talent but some good players really need to get their heads back in the game if they want to make the team going forward (i.e Ncham sinky rogic). With this appointment we have a manager who knows how to win the league, a guy who got us to the last 16 in the CL and knows what it means to the fans to win 10 in a row. He won't settle for less.

Pistol Pete likely couldn’t have handled another high profile manager knocking his door everyday debating the need to improve the playing surface to the cost of millions or spending the guts of 10M on a striker.

Let’s be honest, we wouldn’t have signed French Eddy had Lennon been in charge. That’s what we lose.
