A strange mix of weather conditions locally , I went for a walk at my neighbourhood bluebell wood ( actually Wild Hyacinth ) at the weekend . The woodland floor was completely carpeted in a bloom in its prime . Yesterday , at work , I saw all the back hills were white with fresh snow . Unusual at this stage of the year . I spotted a Dipper at work , and also a Wren .

Just got back from a cool full morning on the North Wales Denbigh Moors with a good mate. Cracking views of a hunting Male Hen Harrier was lapped up as were 2 Red Kite,3 Kestrels, and the local pair of 0sprey on and off their nest.
Also a cool few of a singing Redstart on the edge of the Forest.

Went for a walk up the mountain and downstream when I stumbled across this. Sorry about picture quality as I only had my Nokia 3210 with me. :39:

Aye. “Packy, I think Lenny will get the job” I had to tell him not to be ridiculous because nobody would believe that.

Cool! I think what you saw is the very rare Celtic Giant Ape,a few dozen still exist on the Emerald Isle and a few more dozen in the Scottish Highlands.
I have met the one in the Highlands and he shared a bottle of Single Malt with me:giggle2:

Saw a deer getting chased by a dog and get hit by a car (well I saw the chase and heard the impact).Wish dog walkers weren't so selfish.I just walk right past them with my joints now cos I'm sick of them taking over the walkways....and leaving their dogs * everywhere.Love dogs as well just think a lot of their owners are basically fascists.

I love walking the canal way when I'm going to mum and dad's because it's a lovely way to see the swan's, duck's birds etc, just hate seeing the wee black bags of dog * lying about and * why are they getting flung on tree's :(

Happens down here in North Wales as well. It is a real shame because 9 out of 10 Dog owners seem are okay but the other 1 are worse than the stuff they leave on the walkways or in bags in trees.
And of course baring in mind there are a lot of Dog owners so that 1 out of 10 is a lot of prize *. Which of course gives all us Dog owners a bad name.:50:

Not fair to you and ruby and the majority of responsible dog owners, it's the humans that are the problem @cidermaster, dogs are mighty fine my friend :50:

I've had a great couple of days. On Wednesday I saw I had a Dunnocks nest in one of the bushes in our back garden and a couple of Blackbirds nesting in one of the trees we have in the back garden. Superb to watch them looking for food, fighting with other birds etc. Better than ANY TV show.
Yesterday, being a lovely day, my wife, daughter and I went to Saltcoats for a wee day out. We had a great birding day right from the start. We were getting close to the water when my daughter pointed to a few birds in the water. They were Eider Ducks, male and females. A great start to the day. Moments later, she handed me her binoculars and asked if I could identify 2 birds in the distance, coming closer to us. They eventually got really close to us and we saw they were Black Guilliemots. What a sighting. That's only the 2nd time in my life I've seen these birds. Further on,we got really close to a stunning little Rock Pipet. As well as Swallows, my first Swifts of the year, House Sparrows, Housemartins, 1st year Greater Black Back Gulls, Herring Gulls, Shags, Cormorants, Oystercatchers, Ringed Plovers and a great sighting of a Dunlin. What a day we had.
    Also seen Bobby Lennox statue.

What a brilliant day out and well deserved for all 3 of you. Seeing Eiders brightens up any day and of course Black Guillemots are quite superb birds, very handsome indeed. :50:

PS I have not seen Black Guillemots for some time good friend,I am not jealous,honest!:84:
