Anyway, if Lennon gets the job, there’s going to be a * riot.

Loads of trash talk ‘exclusives’ on social media about him being incredibly backwards when it comes to fitness, professionalism, tactics, etc - essentially thinking turning up and telling the lads to give it their all (as was the way of British football before forward thinking foreign managers came to the fore) is going to be enough.

Bullshit or not (obviously bullshit), it’s beside the point. The performances under him have been eye gougingly bad and revealing in its tactical ineptitude and one dimensional play. There’s only one direction with that and it’s backwards.

I * love Rafa Benitez. He’s the main reason why Liverpool won the Champions League and ironically for the rival manager why Gerrard is so renowned as a legendary player (went to * after Rafa left Liverpool). The guy is a tactical genius and a humble respectable human being. He’d be a perfect fit for the club - he’d love the fans, the fans would love him. You’d throw everything we’ve got at him.

The interview would only be what their conditions are, not what Celtic demand of them.

Besides, Rafa would be preferable to Mourinho. He’s got a holistic view of the clubs he’s worked at - christ, he was shocked at the appalling training conditions at Liverpool and their poor youth system when he arrived in 2004. He went about fixing that.

He’s definitely not a man who is just in it for himself, unlike Mourinho.

If you had to choose between Rafa and Jose, it would be the Spaniard every single time.

I can’t imagine the club being involved in a one way conversation with any potential candidate, as that’s definitely not how it would work if he took the job.

Bringing Mourinho or Rafa in for an interview would be like bringing Rivaldo in for a trial :fear:

He’ll be announced straight after the Game of Thrones finale.

The perfect way to salvage what will be an extremely disappointing night.

Rafa will sit on the Iron Throne.

What I find most interesting the the veiled panic from Newcastle supporters.

THREE of their online fanzines have just published articles trashing the possibility that Rafa will leave them for Celtic in the past 14 hours.

The usual Englishman arrogance is being churned out... "league one players/ no chance in europe/ one horse league" as well as the inevitable... "he wants an epl title pish.

Its less than likely that we'll land Rafa.

    Its that simple.

But the fact that their supporters are panicking does give a * of hope. Newcastle are relegation contenders next season if Ashley doesnt decide to dip into his own pocket... he wont.

Its everything from fingers to to toes to testicles crossed down in geordie shore that another foreign sugar daddy comes in and bails out another english club from being squeezed out of the bourgeoisie league that is the epl. Not impossible... just not likely at the moment. Theyll be a cheaper proposition in the championship for a sugar daddy.

Rafa has three choices. Sign a lucrative but inherently hamstrung one year contract with Newcastle and fight for survival. Join a club on tbe continent such as Roma (highly likely), or join us, add a few medals to his trophy room and a bit more actual history making achievements to his Cv whilst earning a great wage.

Lets hope DD has his eyes on Rafa. He tends to get what he wants does our Des.

I think Benitez would destroy the huns and vastly improve us in Europe, I'm all for it.

If the board know who they are appointing they should announce it before Hearts on Sunday, give Lenny a proper send off at home.

Would love Rafa but think he might be a bit out of our reach, there will be other teams with much more money after him if he leaves. Would be very happy with Moyes. Can’t understand the negative view of him

He is on 4m a year, Rodgers was on 2.3m a year here- Not sure I can see him take half a wage cut, we could possibly offer 3m a year for 2 years and just have him here to finish off the 10

It’s not beyond us to offer that surely? One qualification pays for a 4 year contract and then some.

We set the bar high with Rodgers, and if we are to pay over the odds for anyone it should be for a good manager imo.

Deal to make it somewhat viable would have to be heavily incentivised on Bonuses for Euro participation - qualifying for CL (and for last 16, 8 rnds etc), bit less for Europa but still significant - buttons for winning domestic trophies other than league which again qualifies for Champions League in 2020.
Worth pushing the boat out to get the best chance of at least CL qualifying just for revenues from group stage alone. a $2M bonus for that is not at all ridiculous,
